After being held hostage by a man serving time for a murder he didn’t commit, Torres ended up realizing that Odell Morgan deserved justice. That’s what he’s been fighting to get, and Chicago PD season 13 episode 10 sees the case come to a head.
Caution: This post contains SPOILERS from Chicago PD season 13 episode 10
For the longest time, Torres has been working the Morgan case himself. Once he gets proof that Simone may have witnessed a murder and was killed for it, Intelligence is pulled in. Now it’s time to get to the bottom of both of the cases.

Torres has another murder case on his hands on Chicago PD season 13 episode 10
Things take a turn when it looks like Simone witnessed a murder. That leads to a look into that murder, but the lead detective from that case is dead. As Torres and Imani go through old case records, they find someone called Marcus, and they decide to ask for the first-on-scene, an officer who is now a detective, for the details.
This guy doesn’t remember a Marcus or why he wanted to talk with him again. He remembers the murder case, but that’s about it. It’s hard not to think that Chicago PD will lead back around to this Brian guy.
Intelligence comes through with a Marcus guy, but the question is whether the guy will talk. Can he even remember anything with how many drugs he’s done? It’s not like this murder only happened yesterday! I do have to laugh at how many people actually remember things that happened years ago, especially after all the drugs they’ve done!

It all goes back to the cop on Chicago PD
Marcus shares that a guy called Darryl may have known something. While the guy has a bench warrant out for his arrest, he seems to be off the grid. That’s probably because he’s living in an apartment in his cousin’s name — a cousin who has been dead for the last four years! Sure enough, that’s where Daryl is.
When they do get there, Darryl makes it clear that he needs off the streets while he’s being arrested. Someone is going to kill him, which certainly tracks considering someone killed Odell’s brother when he was going to talk with the cops.
It leads to another name: Brian Foster. See, it all goes back to the detective. There was a reason he couldn’t “remember” much of the case. It turned out that Brian ripped the trucks off with the gang, and he was the one to kill the kid. Again, it’s all starting to add up, especially with how all the murders were covered up.
The problem is that it’s hard to prove that a now-homicide detective was involved in it all in the past. Voight knows that they need a lot more to be able to take this guy down.

Torres connects to a family member in the right way
When Torres goes to see Dominque to see if she can ID Foster (which she can and it helps to get more evidence against Foster), she finds out that she’s not at home. She’s on a bridge, where she’s contemplating what she’s supposed to do now that her parents are gone. There’s a part of her that feels guilty for not wanting to get to know her dad, believing for the longest time that her dad was guilty.
It’s a hard grief to live with, and it’s a grief that Torres sort of gets. While he hasn’t really lost his dad, he is suffering a crisis of faith. He’s lost so much that once meant to much to him, and it’s something that not many people can understand.
For once, Torres is able to connect with a family member of a victim in a positive way. He is able to offer some good advice about working through it and living with the feelings. Not only can he help Dominque, but there’s a chance that he could help himself.

Can Torres catch the real murderer of Simone Morgan on Chicago PD?
While they have Detective Foster in an interview room, the man knows that they don’t have enough to charge him yet. So, Torres needs to get back to the drawing board. It leads to Torres heading back to the Morgan house with all the photos from the crime scene, and that shows that a rug is missing.
That rug was something Carter, the brother, saw being taken outside. With a lot of investigation, a pickup truck was used to transport the rug, and that pickup truck went missing. That’s where Foster hid the body of Simone Morgan.
While it’s easy enough to track the car with toll booth cameras, Intelligence runs into a tricky spot, as the truck could have been dumped in a river. As Torres kneels as if he’s praying for a miracle, there’s a call through the radio. There’s been a hit on the truck in the water.
The rug is in there, and that means Simone’s body is likely in there. Of course, with the time and the water, it’s going to be harder to ID the body, but there’s this sense of hope that justice can be fully served. Is that enough to charge Foster? Voight thinks so, and moves in, but I still have my doubts.
One thing is for sure, though; the family can now grieve and face the loss in full. As Torres walks into the church for the funerals for both Odell and Simone, he looks at the cross with a smile. Torres has come a long way since the Chicago PD season 12 finale, and there’s hope that his crisis of faith is slowly coming to an end. He’s making peace with his life and with the path God has put him on.
Chicago PD airs on Wednesdays at 10/9c on NBC.
