The Code of Silence season 1 finale picked up off the back of the reveals in episode 5. It’s time to break down the events and see what happened to Alison in the end.

Caution: This post contains SPOILERS for Code of Silence season 1, episode 6.

During the previous episode, we caught up to why Alison was arrested in the series premiere. Liam knew that she was working with the cops, and he managed to manipulate her to telling the police the wrong location. It didn’t quite work out, though, as Alison figured a lot of it out.

This did lead to her being arrested and Liam seemingly able to get away with the jewels. Meanwhile, Braden was left with the police after him for shooting one of their own. How would it all play out in the Code of Silence season 1 finale?

Liam tracks down Alison in Code of Silence

Of course, the story can’t end there. After managing to prove her innocence and learning that Ben had survived the shooting, Alison and her mom are moved into a police safe house. However, Alison gets a Chinese food order with a burner phone it in. The message ‘same place as last time’ makes it clear that Liam has found her.

Rather than tell the police, she decides to meet with Liam, and they both blame each other for their own respective deceptions. Liam is willing to overlook it all to get Alison to flee to Brazil with him for a new beginning.

Alison can’t do it, and so she heads back to her regular life, going to The Canterbury Tap to gather more information. Well, that goes as well as you would think, as Braden is there waiting for her and abducts her. This isn’t because he knows she’s working with the police, but because he wants to force Liam to hand over the jewels.

Code of Silence season 1 finale explained: Who was Liam Barlow?

Throughout all of this, DI Marsh wanted to understand why Liam had turned against the gang. Considering how much the earlier robbery kept coming up, it’s not surprising to find out that Liam was connected to it. He was the foster son of the man killed in the robbery, and now he’s out for revenge. The killer may have been caught, but he blamed the entire gang.

Liam does end up giving in to Braden’s demands. Despite Helen telling the cops that she walked away from Braden’s interests, she ends up going to the warehouse with Liam to exchange the jewels. Braden even holds up his end of the deal to allow Alison to go free, but he does turn on Liam.

Just as it looks like Braden is about to shoot Liam, the cops storm the place. Liam had tipped them off, and the cops were able to catch Helen and Braden so that they could charge them. Of course, Liam is also arrested, and two months later, he pleads guilty to conspiracy to commit robbery.

Alison’s rewards set up Code of Silence season 2

In some great news, ITV has already renewed the series for a second season, and the ending to the Code of Silence season 1 finale sets it all up. Alison is at the courtroom as Liam pleads guilty, suggesting that there could be something when he eventually walks free.

However, it’s her life that sets up the second season. After her efforts, she’s rewarded with £50,000. On top of that, Marsh wants her to apply for a full-time career as a forensic lip reader. She may have messed up at times, but she did great for her first case and helped to catch the guys. So, it looks like we’ll see her working with the cops in a more official capacity in the second season.
