What could have been for Vo if FBI: International season 5 happened?

Vo was left with her future in flux in the FBI: International season 4 finale.
“Gaijin” – The Fly Team discovers they’re on the trail of a serial killer, taking the investigation, and Mitchell, to Japan to put an end to the international killing spree, on part two of the two-part series finale of FBI: INTERNATIONAL, Tuesday, May 20 (9:00-10:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network, and streaming on Paramount+ (live and on-demand for Paramount+ with SHOWTIME subscribers, or on-demand for Paramount+ Essential subscribers the day after the episode airs). In some disappointing news, FBI: International was canceled after four seasons by CBS. Annoyingly, the series left us with a number of cliffhangers and no closure for any of the characters. We’re going to take a look at each of the characters to look at what could have been had FBI: International season 5 happened, and we start with Agent Cameron Vo.

At the end of season 4, Vo and her colleague Andre Raines, were left with their lives in flux. Both were up for a promotion, but we didn’t find out which one got it. So, what could have been had Vo’s story continued in FBI: International season 5?

The Other Hard Part
“The Other Hard Part” – When a U.S. ambassador is taken hostage at a TV station in the Netherlands alongside 70 civilians, the Fly Team is forced to work quickly to find out who they’re up against. Meanwhile, Wes works to earn the respect of his new team, on FBI: INTERNATIONAL, Tuesday, Oct. 22 (9:00-10:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network, and streaming on Paramount+ (live and on-demand for Paramount+ with SHOWTIME subscribers, or on-demand for Paramount+ Essential subscribers the day

Vo should have got the GS-14 promotion in FBI: International season 5

Out of the two OG Fly Team members, Vo should have been the one to get the promotion. Raines was heavily underwritten throughout the series, leading to him often being sidelined for Vo’s leadership skills. Even in the finale, Vo was the one to take over as Wes traveled to Tokyo to deal with the case.

So, arguably, we should have seen FBI: International season 5 lose Vo, as she moved back to the States to take on her new position. Of course, there could have been a slight change to the plan had Wes realized that he needed to be back in the States for his half-sister. He could have asked to get the position Vo was going for, leaving the position of the Fly Team leader open. This would have allowed for the best ending possible for Vo: taking over the Fly Team.

A Tradition of Secrets
“A Tradition of Secrets” – After a cybersecurity expert robs one of Switzerland’s largest and most secretive banks, the Fly Team is called to track down the fugitive. Also, Smitty’s loyalty is put to the test, on the CBS Original series FBI: INTERNATIONAL, Tuesday, May 9 (9:00-10:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network, and available to stream live and on demand on Paramount+. Vo could have struggled to deal with the loss of the promotion in FBI: International

There was no guarantee that Vo would have been the one to get the promotion in the States, though. We could have seen Raines head back to American soil, leaving Vo feeling slightly by not getting the promotion she clearly deserved.

This would have meant her remaining in Budapest and working with the Fly Team. This wouldn’t have necessarily been a bad thing, but I would have liked to see her step up as Second-in-Command more than Tyler Booth, who kept taking over when he was around.

Personally, I would have also liked to see her have a life outside of work. When she was shot, she connected more to her work and even went in to help with the case, because she had nothing else to do. Maybe she could have taken over the care of Tank, leading to her meeting someone who loves dogs as well.
