There are still many shows on the bubble, and The Hunting Party is one of them. Something that makes this show more nerve-wracking is the fact that it’s now come to an end. There is nothing more people can do to help with the linear ratings. So, what are the chances of The Hunting Party season 2 happening?
Well, okay, the Live + 7 Days linear ratings are still possible to boost for The Hunting Party season 1 finale. That aired last night, and boy was it an episode you did not want to miss. Don’t worry; we won’t go into spoilers for how that ended in this post. We’re looking at the possibility of it being renewed.
The Hunting Party season 1 linear ratings aren’t that strong
Sadly, the series isn’t that strong in the linear ratings. For a while, it looked like it was doing well, and then it dipped down as the weeks went on. The Hunting Party now sits in 11th place in the demo out of all scripted NBC shows. It’s behind Brilliant Minds, which had its timeslot in the fall, and there are concerns that series will be canceled as well. It is worth noting that a winter/spring series tends to have lower linear ratings than a fall series, though, so this isn’t a huge concern just yet.
What is a concern is that there are only four shows below it. Out of those four shows, only three are dramas. We can’t compare a drama to a comedy. It is toward the bottom of the linear ratings, and this is a huge concern for network TV.
NBC will look at more than just the linear ratings, but these figures are worrisome at first glance. They remain a big component in the decision to cancel or renew because they hint at the type of revenue the networks can get from the shows via advertisement revenue.

NBC doesn’t have any scripted pilots in the works
There is something that could save The Hunting Party. NBC doesn’t have any scripted drama pilots in contention for the 2025–2026 TV season. This means that the network doesn’t need to make room for any new shows on the schedule. The schedule is on the crowded side right now, but it’s not too concerning that would lead to shows being canceled.
This could be a saving grace for this year. The problem is that if the linear ratings keep dropping, which they traditionally do (unless you’re Will Trent on ABC!) then The Hunting Party is looking at being canceled in a year’s time. NBC will want to weigh up the risks of running it vs. taking it off the air, and I just can’t call it this year.
The Hunting Party is now available to stream on Peacock.
