Not everyone is someone to trust in Countdown season 1, episode 7, and the task force may have an issue with one of their own. It’s time to delve into the latest episode.
Caution: This post contains SPOILERS for Countdown season 1, episode 7.
The task force goes back to the start in Countdown season 1, episode 7. This leads Finau back to the border patrol vehicle they saw in the beginning. Meanwhile, Volchek faces problems with his own countrymen after his shocking decision.

Finau looks into the vehicle lead in Countdown season 1, episode 7
At the start of the episode, Bell suggests that they go back to the beginning since they’ve run into more dead ends. That leads to Finau thinking about the border patrol car that fled during the first episode. The reports came back clean, but it was too clean!
So, he decides to head over to the impound lot since he knows one of the guys who works there. This leads to him learning that the car wasn’t actually a border patrol car. It was a stolen SUV made to look like it was a border patrol vehicle. This should have been in the report, making Finau realize that something is definitely going on in the fleet report side of things.
While it doesn’t help immediately, Finau has a lead when it comes to the trucks later on. He knows what reskinning trucks looks like.

Bell has a decision to make in Countdown
During the previous episode, Bell connected with the DA over their connection via his dad. Well, the DA turns up in the new episode, making it clear that he supported Isaiah Bell in his promotions through the ranks. He supports loyalty, and it’s clear that he wants Bell to work with him.
It looks like Bell is willing to consider working with the DA, but is this just a way to play the DA to get back into the good books with his boss? Blythe has certainly busted his butt over questioning Meachum, and I don’t exactly think that it was fair. However, I can’t tell which side Bell is going to fall on.

Oliveras and Meachum track down another lead
Meanwhile, Meachum learns that the ballistics from the dance hall are Russian military weapons. They had to be smuggled in, leading to Oliveras stating she has a CI who may be able to help.
Sure enough, it works, and that leads the task force to a Russian group. Shepherd even gets the profile of Volchek’s No. 1 man, whose record has been scrubbed. The entire group knew that the task force was coming, and I can’t help but wonder if it was Meachum who tipped the group off. After all, he had a look of recognition on his face when he saw the picture of Volchek’s man.
Another option is that it’s Bell, and that he’s chosen his side. Can Blythe really trust all of his men?
Shepherd manages to finally get the break that they need. After combing through banking records, she finds out that the company bought three trucks from a freight, leading them to the Gallagher name. I think this is a great moment for Meachum to know that he did get the name right, but while it offers just a little bit of hope for the task force, they still end up steps behind Volchek and his men. The warehouse is now empty, and they have no idea where Volchek and the radioactive material-carrying trucks are.

Volchek continues to have problems with the Belarus Consulate
As all this goes on, Volchek has his own problems. After killing one of his own, there are people looking for him. He has bigger connections to the Consulate, and people are not happy that he’s gone missing. Of course, Volchek couldn’t possibly give up the information he has, so he decides to fight.
He doesn’t get very far, though. The group of men make it clear that Volchek better be on the plane leaving for Minsk that night. He’s also ordered to pay back the money that he has, and the group isn’t happy with the small amount that he has available to him.
Volchek takes the men to his house for the rest of the money, but you just know that it has to be a trap. Well, it is. Volchek hides in his safe in the basement as a bomb goes off, killing the group and giving Volchek another chance to carry out his plan.
The end of the episode delivers two moments, one surprising and one not-so-much. Bell decides to see the DA, looking for help to further his career, although he makes it clear that he will not go behind Blythe’s back to the DA. Oliveras goes over to Meachum to give him more pain medication, for him to surprisingly admit that he has a brain tumor, so how long before the secret is out to everyone in Countdown?
