One of the must-watch summer crime dramas has been Countdown on Prime Video. However, like so many other shows, the first season is coming to an end. There’s still a lot to unpack, though.
Caution: There are some SPOILERS for Countdown season 1, episode 12 in this post.
While Countdown has been a longer season than most other Prime Video shows, it still feels like the finale has happened way too soon. That’s because there is so much going on right now. After spending nine-and-a-half episodes on one storyline, the last three-and-a-half have been focused on a second story, and I do feel like that split could have happened better.
Yet, here we are. The task force is hunting down Todd, who has proven to be one step ahead of the task force every step of the way. He now knows what two of them look like, and this could create more issues for them as they still have no idea who Todd really is.

Countdown season 1 ends soon on Prime Video
The finale date for Countdown season 1 is set for Wednesday, Sept. 3. Yes, that is next Wednesday, which means you will be able to binge-watch the whole season at that point.
Like with previous episodes, we’ll get to watch the episodes at 3 a.m. ET/12 a.m. PT on Prime Video. Gone are the days when Prime Video would release content a day early in the U.S. by following midnight UK time!
The episode will be available from that time, and you can watch it whenever you want. If that means on your lunch break, go for it. If it means when you finish work and are eating dinner, then you’re probably like so many others out there.

Will Countdown season 2 happen?
It’s hard to say what Prime Video will do about this series. Usually, if a show is going well, a renewal would have come through by now. The fact that there hasn’t been an early renewal for Countdown is concerning to me. It suggests that it’s just not working out for the streamer.
That’s an odd one, especially considering how well Cross, Jack Reacher, and Jack Ryan have performed. There are a few factors that make Countdown different though, with the main one being that it’s not a book property first that’s been adapted into a TV series. This is more like On Call, a standalone and original show, which was canceled after just one season.
So, I am worried that Countdown will be canceled, but I’m holding out some hope that Amazon just wanted to see how viewers would take to the way the storylines were split so late in the season.
Countdown season 1’s finale will air on Wednesday, Sept. 3 on Prime Video.
