After taking a week off, a few crime dramas are back on our broadcast networks. However, Wednesdays are on the quieter side right now, and that’s certainly the case tonight, Wednesday, May 7.

That doesn’t mean there’s nothing to watch. In fact, there are some great options as you start looking at the cable networks and the streamers, as well as the traditional broadcast networks. Now where do you start? What do you watch live, and what do you wait for the following day?

The CW is the place to turn as the night begins. Wild Cards brings a new episode, off the back of its two-season renewal up in Canada. The CW is still to decide whether it will continue airing the series, but with it being a joint venture with CBC, I could certainly see that happening. The latest episode of Wild Cards sees Ellis learn more about the kingpin behind Daniel’s death, and it’s sure to rock him to the core.

The Challenge

After that, stick with The CW for the period crime drama Sherlock & Daughter. It also took a week off last week, and now we’re heading into the third episode, which will see Sherlock head to prison. He needs to find his forever foe, which is sure to be Moriarty. Meanwhile, Amelia will go undercover, giving her more practice to be a sleuth like Sherlock.

Next up, it’s all about Chicago PD on NBC. The entire One Chicago block is back for the night, and we’ll get to see Intelligence deal with a sex trafficking case. It all starts with Ruzek dealing with a devastating accident on an icy bridge, and it opens up a huge can of worms.

ION-E has a full night of Blue Bloods reruns. As much as we adore this series, and it’s more than worth catching up on ready for Boston Blue in the fall, this is a series you can watch at any time on Paramount+. We’d suggest opting for that streamer when you have a chance.
