The second episode of Grosse Pointe Garden Society pointed to Doug killing Molly, and Alice confronted him in episode 3. It’s just too obvious for it to be Doug, isn’t it?
Caution: This post contains some SPOILERS for Grosse Pointe Garden Society season 1, episode 3.
Over the course of three episodes of Grosse Pointe Garden Society, we’ve had a couple of questions answered — more in the way of people we know can’t be Quiche. There are still a lot more questions, and this is a series that appears to be smartly written from the jump.
That’s why I can’t believe that Doug is Molly’s killer. This storyline is too obvious, and the way Doug acted in episode 3 makes it look like he’s just done with the entire situation at the moment.
Doug told Alice how he killed Molly in Grosse Pointe Garden Society
After being confronted during marriage therapy, Doug decided to “confess” to the murder of the dog. He went into detail about how he got Molly to come over to the gun to kill her. It was way too detailed, and you would think that absolutely nobody would even consider just making something like that up.
However, people do. We have TV writers for a reason! Doug is an artist, and while it’s painting rather than writing, he will still have an imagination on him. As he’s just fed up of Alice accusing him of something that he didn’t do, he would easily just make something up and then leave Alice wondering if he’s telling the truth or not.

Doug being the suspect is easy and obvious in Grosse Pointe Garden Society
This series isn’t making anything too obvious just yet. Okay, there are some relationship storylines that appear to be obvious at first. I think we could all guess that Birdie and Joel would end up hooking up at some point, and a love triangle is just the thing to do in shows like this, right? At the heart of this series, it’s a soap opera and we’re here for it.
However, when it comes to who Quiche is, there are still plenty of guesses. Nobody is quite proving they don’t deserve to be victims at this point. It’s this smart writing that has me convinced that Doug isn’t the Molly’s killer.
Plus, he had nothing to gain from Molly’s death. He would have known how Alice would react, and there’s not a chance that he would have wanted her to come after him. If he had done it, he would have moved the gun to outside of the house, because keeping it in the house was a dumb move. And Doug doesn’t seem like a completely dumb dude.
