When Elsbeth returns to the airwaves after the NCAA Tournament, the show will continue bringing some showstopping star power in its guest star roles, especially as the third season comes to an end. A trio of talented actors is joining the hit crime drama, as Patti LuPone, Michael Urie, and Erich Bergen will all make appearances over the final two episodes of season 3.
With the recent news that Elsbeth has secured its fourth season, it looks like CBS wants to have some showstopping power to make sure its third season closes with a bang. LuPone, especially, who has decades of experience on TV, the big screen, and the stage, is quite the get for one of the younger shows in the genre.
Deadline reports that LuPone's character will be right up her alley, with LuPone playing Ruby Lane, a legendary New York cabaret performer who makes her home in the hotel where she sings. The character is described as talented, daring, and (unsurprisingly) difficult. She is rumored to be the big bad in the season finale.
The veteran actress has shown a range that is truly impressive over the years. While her Elsbeth character is expected to be far more grounded, she's even shown an ability to hang with the MCU's best. Her most recent prolonged appearance was in the Disney+ series, Agatha All Along, where she and her coven of witches took the Marvel Cinematic Universe in a direction it had rarely tread before or since.
Urie, who just wrapped up filming for the third season of Apple TV's hit dramedy Shrinking, will appear on Elsbeth as Monty Blakemont III. Blakemont is a dashing art connoisseur and philanthropist. While his love of the arts is genuine, how flush his bank accounts are might be suspect. Urie will also appear alongside Lupone in the season's final episode.
Finally, Bergen plays Otis Langley, a TV personality and celebrity reporter who is beloved on screen but isn't nearly as popular among the people closest to him. He'll appear in Elbeth's penultimate episode. Bergen is best known for his appearances in Love Story and Madam Secretary.
With March Madness in full swing, fans of the spinoff of both The Good Wife and The Good Fight will take a break for the next few weeks. Men's and women's basketball games are set to dominate the airwaves in the near future, but Elsbeth will return as April begins!
