We would love to keep new episodes of our favorite TV crime dramas going, but there’s some bad news. The networks are taking the Christmas and New Year break off. Elsbeth season 2 has just aired its last new episode of 2024.
Yes, it’s the time of year that the broadcast networks opt for breaks in the schedule. This break is important for multiple reasons, and it’s something that we should be used to by now. This break ensures that there are enough episodes in the bank for a run through January and February, and allows the cast and crew to take the time of year off to spend with family. Plus, the linear ratings take a hit, so it’s best to take this time off from new episodes airing.
The good news is we got all the way up to the week before Christmas with CBS shows, and the break isn’t too long.
When will Elsbeth season 2 return with new episodes?
All our favorite shows are back in 2025. Elsbeth season 2 will return on Thursday, Jan. 30. It follows new episodes of all our favorites, including the new series Matlock. Elsbeth season 2, episode 9 will end the night at 10 p.m. ET/Pt.
We don’t have details of what to expect when the show returns. However, we do know that Elsbeth currently has a thorn in her side, and it’s going to plague her for a few episodes this season. That thorn is in Judge Crawford, played by Carrie Preston’s real-life husband Michael Emerson. It’s great to see the two on screen together, and they play opposite other so well!
Judge Crawford is clearly up to something. He tried to help railroad an innocent woman into a guilty plea, but Elsbeth had figured it out. She managed to convince the jury to come back with a “not guilty” verdict, and now it’s time for Elsbeth to figure out exactly what Crawford wants and what he’s up to.
Elsbeth is available to stream on Paramount+ if you need to catch up or you want to rewatch episodes.
