Is Elsbeth new on CBS tonight, March 20, 2025?

We are certainly ready to see which crime Elsbeth will solve next and how the next guest star will be. There is some bad news about Elsbeth season 2 tonight, Thursday, March 20.

Just as we shared last week, there isn’t going to be a new episode of the series on tonight. There won’t be a new episode for the rest of March 2025. While this initially seems like a bad thing, it will turn out to be a good thing on the other side of the break.

Why isn’t Elsbeth on tonight?

Not only isn’t there a new episode, there isn’t even a rerun of Elsbeth season 2 tonight, Thursday, March 20. That’s because of the reason for this current break. It’s not connected to just the need to spread out the episodes for May finale week, but also because it’s March Madness.

We’re at the point in the year when the college basketball teams face off. Thursdays and Fridays are taken over by CBS airing the games. After all, network TV is a business, and the networks need to air the content that is likely to bring in the most views. March Madness is a huge event for basketball fans everywhere.

In some good news, this will allow CBS to space out the episodes of Elsbeth that it does have. This ensures there are fewer breaks purely for reruns to get the show to May for finale week.

“The Wrong Stuff” – When a billionaire dies in a freak accident during a space training simulation, Elsbeth suspects a fellow magnate and wannabe astronaut with a grudge named Neal (Robert Riggle) is responsible. Also, Elsbeth’s day is turned upside down when she is reunited with a former colleague from Chicago, on the CBS Original series ELSBETH, Thursday, Oct. 24 (10:00-11:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network, and streaming on Paramount+ (live and on demand for Paramount+ with SHOWTIME

When will Elsbeth season 2 return with new episodes?

How long is this break? It’s just a two-week break, with a new episode of Elsbeth airing on Thursday, April 3. It will continue to air on Thursdays at 10 p.m. ET/PT.

There is some bad news right now, though. We don’t get the details of what to expect when the series will return, but that’s not unusual. CBS tends to wait until the week before the show’s return to offer details, so we’ll be keeping an eye out for all that next week.

This doesn’t mean anything bad for the series as a whole, though. In some great news, Elsbeth season 3 has already been officially confirmed. We can watch the rest of the second season without fear of a cliffhanger that will be left unresolved.
