Elsbeth has another night off tonight (and for a good reason)

If you were hoping to get involved in another case with Elsbeth, there's some disappointing news. There isn't a new episode tonight, but the show will be back soon.
“Subscription to Murder” – When a womanizing finance executive is found stabbed to death after a night at the opera, Elsbeth suspects an obsessed opera lover (Nathan Lane) was driven to murder because of a ringing cell phone. Thursdays are great nights for female-led dramas on CBS. We end the night with Elsbeth, but there is some bad news tonight, Thursday, Nov. 28.

There isn’t a new episode of the CBS dramas tonight, and it’s for a good reason. It’s Thanksgiving, and that means the broadcast networks take some time off. Some networks have big events going on, such as NBC’s football. Other networks just know that airing new episodes of scripted shows is a bad idea for the linear ratings.

People are watching the football, or they’re spending time with family. The last thing most people want to do is watch a new episode of TV shows. Since CBS has nothing else to air, it is offering a rerun of Elsbeth. We’re heading back to the Elsbeth season 2 premiere, which sees our titular character figure out who killed an opera-goer and why.

When will Elsbeth return with new episodes?

In some good news, this break is almost over. There will be new episodes of all Thursday CBS shows next Thursday, Dec. 5. This isn’t the last of the episodes airing in 2024, either. CBS will continue into December with its top shows, with the Elsbeth fall finale likely airing the following Thursday, Dec. 12. We’ll know more closer to the time.

So, the next new episode will air on Thursday, Dec. 5 at 10 p.m. ET/PT as usual. We’re still waiting on a renewal for this show and holding out hope that CBS will give us the good news.

What to expect in Elsbeth season 2, episode 6

CBS has released the synopsis for the new episode, giving us an idea of the case that our titular lead will be on. This episode sees the death of Dirk Dasher, a celebrity Christmas curator who usually works with his wife DeeDee. Elsbeth is sure that his wife is behind the murder, but she needs to find a way to prove it.

Of course, Elsbeth is getting into the holiday spirit, but she’s surprised to find out that others are as well. Wagner and Kaya have a holiday surprise for the woman who has become beloved in their circle.

Check out the synopsis for Elsbeth season 2, episode 6:

"Celebrity Christmas curators Dirk and DeeDee Dashers (Vanessa Bayer) go from tinsel to tragedy after Dirk is killed in a freak accident and Elsbeth begins to suspect his wife is behind the death. Meanwhile, Elsbeth gets a holiday surprise courtesy of Wagner and Kaya."

Elsbeth airs on Thursdays at 10/9c on CBS. Catch up the following day on Paramount+.
