Are you ready for the Elsbeth season 2 fall finale? Well, okay, we’re not ready to see the show go on a break either, but there are some great moments to look out for as the episode arrives.

Laurie Metcalf is the guest star for this spectacular episode, and it looks like she already knows who Elsbeth is. That’s not too surprising when you consider the name she is making for herself in New York, but it looks like their relationship goes a little further back.

Who will Laurie Metcalf play in the Elsbeth season 2 fall finale

Metcalf will take on the role of Regina Coburn, who plays a detective on TV. She’s had this role for the last two decades, which could now explain how she knows Elsbeth. What are the chances that Regina turned to professionals for some help creating her character, and at some point, she ran into the former lawyer?

Back to the episode, though, Metcalf’s character is clearly the suspect that Elsbeth and co. need to get. The question is why she ended up killing someone. Elsbeth believes that it could be to pursue artistic fulfilment, but how?

Whatever the reasoning Elsbeth comes up with is, it’s going to sound crazy, even for her. Now she can have some wild thoughts and they can end up coming true, but if she thinks something sounds crazy, then it must be extremely wild. Wagner is ready for whatever she has to say at this point, though. He takes it in his stride as he tells her “this is not one of our usual suspects.”

Unresolved storylines for 2025

Of course, the previous episode left us with an unresolved storyline. Michael Emerson’s Judge Crawford is going to be back at some point. He let some information slip that he shouldn’t have known, and it’s led to Elsbeth curious about him and what he’s actually hiding.

This one is juicy as well. Crawford is going to be at the back of her mind in between cases that she needs to solve, and we’re sure to see some moments of this pop up throughout the remaining episodes to air in 2025.

Elsbeth airs Thursdays at 10/9c on CBS. Catch up the following day on Paramount+.
