We’re not ready for Elsbeth to come to an end for another season, but we know that all good things have to come to a (temporary) end. The Elsbeth season 2 finale is on its way.
The great thing going into this final run-up is that we know there will be more. While the summer hiatus will feel long, Elsbeth season 3 is coming our way. It was one of the nine renewals back in February 2025.
When is the Elsbeth season 2 finale on CBS?
We’ll see the season come to a close on Thursday, May 8. That is earlier than we would like to see, but it’s not a forever goodbye at this point. It’s also later than fellow Thursday night series, Matlock, which is wrapping its first season on Thursday, April 17!
Because Matlock won’t have any new episodes for a while, Elsbeth will be moving to a slightly earlier time — and honestly, I think it will prove to CBS that the 10 p.m. ET/PT timeslot is a bad one. Elsbeth season 2 will move to 9 p.m. ET/PT for its last few episodes, including the finale.
This is going to be a big episode, with many returning faces from previous episodes. Elsbeth has a huge murder to figure out and it includes people like Stephen Moyer’s Alex Modarian, Alyssa Milano’s Pupetta Del Ponte, and Retta’s Margo Clarke. Why are all these people coming back to cause problems? Well, it could have something to do with a certain judge.
There is another Elsbeth break coming up
With the news of the finale, there is a bit of bad news for those ready for a string of new episodes. There is one more break coming for Elsbeth season 2. There won’t be a new episode on Thursday, April 17.
Does that date ring a bell from earlier in this piece? Well, yes, it’s linked to the Matlock season 1 finale. That season finale is a two-part episode, and CBS has chosen to put the two episodes on the same night back-to-back. So, while there won’t be a rerun either, you can watch previous episodes of Elsbeth on Paramount+.
