Thank the world that there is going to be a fourth season of Will Trent. After Will Trent season 3, episode 17’s bombshells, there’s no way one episode would have been enough to wrap the story up! Of course, with how great the series is, we had no doubt that Will Trent would be renewed.
Caution: This post contains SPOILERS for Will Trent season 3, episode 17.
The episode of Will Trent started with bombshell for Angie, but it was around the halfway point of the episode that we got the biggest bombshell of the series ever. And it’s unclear if this is really true or not. At first, it seemed like a case of mixed up DNA test results, but there were certainly signs throughout that it was true.
Will Trent learns about his biological father in Will Trent season 3, episode 17
Will initially ends up dealing with a difficult sheriff in a small town when there’s a murder. The sheriff does not want the GBI’s help, and the tension between the two ends up leading to a contaminated crime scene.
With the contaminated crime scene, blood had to be tested and that led to some DNA test results. Everyone was shocked to learn that Will’s biological father is the prickly sheriff. Of course, he is unwilling to believe it, and so were we at first. That was until the two ended up coming face to face later on.
Sure enough, there are a lot of similarities between the two of them. It looks like Will really has met his biological father, but that doesn’t mean he is ready for a relationship with him.

Sheriff Caleb didn’t know about Will before now
Caleb decides to pay Will a visit at his home, offering just to talk about the case. However, when he learns that Will is fixing a hole in the wall, he mentions the five-step process that Will had already mentioned to Wagner earlier in the episode.
In the end, Caleb uses this as a chance to start the heart-to-heart with his son. It turns out that he didn’t know about Will. The assumption here is that Will’s mom never told Caleb about the pregnancy, but it seems like that is probably something to develop. TVLine had shared that Yul Vazquez would appear in the show as a major recurring character, and now it makes a lot of sense as to why he'll be in Will Trent season 4.
There is a new threat in town, but could that threat also be Vazquez’s character? Why do I get a sense that Scott Foley is actually playing the big threat? All I know is, Amanda is not the woman you want to cross when it comes to Will's heart. The warning to Caleb has been made.
Okay, so it's not Seth. Instead, it's linked to Caleb, and now everyone will need to work together to get to the bottom of the threat and save Amanda's life.
Will Trent airs on Tuesdays at 8/7c on ABC. Catch up on the series on Hulu.
