If you’re a fan of FBI’s Maggie Bell, then you can check out Missy Peregrym’s first foray as a law enforcement officer. The great news is that it's now available to stream for free.

Since FBI began, Missy Peregrym has been the center of the series as Special Agent Maggie Bell. Fans have loved seeing Maggie saving the day in various cases while enduring near-death experiences. However, this isn’t the first time Peregrym has played a law enforcement officer. She took on the role of Andy McNally on Rookie Blue, and now that series is available to stream for free.

Where to watch Rookie Blue for free

As of Saturday, Jan. 10, the ad-supported streamer, Tubi, has added the first five seasons of Rookie Blue. The Canadian crime drama (originally titled Coppers) ran from 2010 to 2015, first on Global in Canada. ABC began to air it in the summer of 2010 where it quickly gained an audience.

The series has been available on The Roku Channel and Prime Video, but Tubi allows viewers to see it for free, albeit with ads. It is strange to only have the first five seasons of the series available, but it is standard practice for Tubi to add early seasons of a show to whet the appetite of viewers and then add more later on. Thus, the sixth and final season may be added in the near future.

This is a great opportunity to check out Peregrym, who had broken out in the cult movie Stick It and the short-lived CW supernatural series Reaper. Yet Rookie Blue gave her the major exposure that helped her land the role of Maggie.

Why Rookie Blue is must-see viewing

Described as “Grey’s Anatomy for cops,” Rookie Blue focused on a pack of rookie patrol officers starting their first years on the force. Peregrym played Andy McNally, the daughter of a burned-out cop who follows her gut more than taking orders. She was the center of the action, especially the love triangle with her, Detective Sam Swarek (Ben Bass) and Training Officer Luke Callaghan (Eric Johnson).

The supporting cast was just as good, particularly Charlotte Sullivan as Gail Peck, a tough officer with some unique romances. The show never shied away from how tough being a cop was, while the officers still gave it their all. The series can appeal to fans of Chicago PD and The Rookie, mixing single-episode tales ranging from drama to humor to long-range story arcs of hunting a serial sniper or police corruption. The Toronto setting also gave it a nice flair.

Fans of FBI will enjoy seeing Peregrym’s performance as Andy evolves from naive patrolwoman to a top cop. A sixth-season FBI episode even had Sullivan guest-starring as an old friend of Maggie’s to touch on their past connection. Thus, if you love FBI for Peregrym, you can check out Rookie Blue to see her early work!

Rookie Blue seasons 1-5 are now streaming on Tubi for free.
