When someone close to Wes Mitchell dies, he has their badge number tattooed onto his arm. A recent episode of FBI: International saw him talk about Alana Greggs.
Wes and Vo have a special bond. Because Vo trained under him, they already know each other, and that means they can be a little more open with each other. Wes also sees an agent he can trust and respect, and it’s certainly led to him opening up in ways that he wouldn’t with others.
In FBI: International season 4, episode 6, Vo and Wes faced a near-death experience, leading to Vo joking that she’d become his next badge tattoo. Over the course of the episode, it led to a discussion about one of the badge numbers, the one belonging to Alana Greggs.
Who was Alana Greggs in FBI: International?
Wes explained that Alana was his former Supervisory Special Agent, who had been killed in the line of duty. Wes blames himself for her death, sharing that he froze during a major moment of a drug bust.
Wes had decided to trust his criminal informant, who said that during the drug bust there were no civilians in the complex a man named Cerullo was going to blow up. Well, it turned out that Cerullo had his own kids in the building, and seeing that caused Wes to freeze in the moment.
Just then, Alana stormed into the room, and Cerullo shot her, hitting her femoral artery. She bled out, and Wes had to make a call that he didn’t want to—and never wants to do again. He had to shoot Cerullo in front of his own children. The shot also meant that the case fell apart since they needed Cerullo’s testimony, adding to the weight of the situation for Wes.
His decision to trust his CI cost him a lot in that moment. It’s no wonder that he struggles to trust CIs now. However, while it’s made him a harder boss, it’s also made him a team player. He will always do what it takes to protect his own.
