We would love nothing more than for FBI: Most Wanted to continue. The series has been one of the popular CBS shows since it arrived back in 2018, and it was a shock to find out that it would be canceled this year.
The most shocking thing was that both FBI: Most Wanted and FBI: International was being canceled. If it was just one, we could accept somewhat that the network needed to make way for a new spin-off in the franchise. However, both of them ending was not on the 2025 cancellation bingo cards.
FBI: Most Wanted likely won’t be saved at the last minute
We would love to see some sort of Hail Mary for FBI: Most Wanted to be saved. There are a couple of ways to keep the show on the air, whether it was to go to NBC where the other in-universe shows air or onto a streaming platform. However, it’s looking less and less likely that that won’t happen.
As we get closer to the end of the series, it’s clear that the writers were able to set up some closing storylines. At least, that’s the way it seems to be playing out right now. With just more than a month to go, it certainly looks like characters are thinking about their futures, which may not be with the team.
However, there’s something else that stands out to prevent the series from being saved. Nobody is even trying to save it! According to TVLine, FBI: Most Wanted is not being shopped around.
If the studio isn’t shopping the series around, it means that it has accepted the fate of cancellation. At least when it came to NCIS: Hawaii, there was a fight to find a new home or to get CBS to change its mind. With SWAT, there has been a fight against the cancellation. If you look at those behind FBI: Most Wanted, you’ll see a lot of them just accept the end of the road for the series.
In a way, this is healthy. It means moving onto other projects, and it’s part of the life of a writer, actor, director, and more. However, it’s disappointing for us as fans, as it means we need to accept it as well, and that’s much harder to do, especially if the season finale doesn’t quite work as that.
FBI: Most Wanted airs on Tuesdays at 10/9c on CBS. Catch up the following day on Paramount+.
