FBI returned from winter hiatus, which was made longer due to the Winter Olympics, and it focused on Agents Stuart Scola and Nina Chase as they dealt with the realities of their jobs and their responsibilities as parents. It was a heavy episode that ended with a special ceremony for the couple who had already been through so much together.
The last time we saw Nina, she was working on FBI: Most Wanted before the show was cancelled, so this marked the first time fans have seen her since. Nina was working on an undercover operation that looked to involve drugs by getting close to the son of a crime boss named Luka Simovic.

However, when the deal being brokered was interrupted, Nina had to bring Luka in, where Maggie and OA interrogated him. The team had found the weapon he was buying after it was stolen, which was a wedding gift for his brother’s upcoming nuptials.
It was a deal set between his father and the new leader of the Jalisco cartel, which recently saw the loss of their boss in a targeted plane attack. It was supposed to bring the two organizations together.
No one knew who the new boss was, but the marriage was supposed to form a union between his brother and the daughter of the original cartel leader, Jorge. Nina and Maggie went undercover to the wedding, so there was a recording of the meeting between the two leaders.
Unfortunately, it appeared the security guards were prepared and had scramblers in place to keep Nina and Maggie from communicating with OA and Scola. This meant the latter two had to carefully find the scramblers so the FBI could see and hear what was happening.
The meeting was actually a double cross, and it was Jorge’s widow, Alicia Ortega, who was calling the shots, even though they thought it was Jorge’s brother, Carlos, who took over. She began shooting everyone at the wedding, with Luka outing Nina as FBI to save himself.
Luckily, Nina and Maggie were able to escape, with Maggie going after Carlos and Nina fleeing after Alicia. While OA took care of Carlos, Maggie arrested Luka after he blew their cover and ruined his deal to go into witness protection.
Nina found Alicia, but barely missed being shot after a struggle when Scola shot Alicia, saving her life. It was such a charged moment, especially since there had been tension over the case. Scola hadn’t seen Nina in action in a long time, and as much as he loved that side of her, he also remembered she was their son’s mother.
A wedding fans have been waiting for finally happened on FBI
Working a case with her was difficult for him since they had an agreement that if one parent had a huge case going on, the other would sit back, so Dougie had one parent with him at all times. In the end, the case actually inspired Nina to want to take the next step for themselves. But before she could ask Scola the big question, he took the reins and surprised her with a ring he has been hiding for six months!
While the wedding was short, it brought the two together in a courthouse ceremony with their team and son in attendance. It was a great episode to return to that allowed the return of a recurring guest star and also provided a glimpse into their personal lives and how their work affected decisions they made away from work.
We’re excited to follow their journey into this latest chapter, especially seeing how it affects Scola’s role as an FBI agent now that he is officially married. Plus, if we get more of Nina on our screens, it will be even better.
FBI airs Mondays on CBS at 9/8c. Catch up on new episodes streaming on Paramount+.
