We spent the whole FBI season 8 premiere worried about the wrong character. There was a death, but it wasn’t Isobel. Now the team needs to move forward once more, but that’s not going to be easy.
Poor Scola isn’t having much luck with partners right now. After Tiffany chose to leave, he’s had a revolving door of partners not quite fitting well with the rest of the team, but FBI season 8, episode 2 could change that. Maybe the person Maggie turns to will be the new agent who joins permanently.

Maggie turns to a friend in FBI season 8, episode 2
The synopsis gives us a little bit of information that hints toward the new team member. Maggie will turn to a friend to help with the profiling of suspects, and this could be Juliana Aidén Martinez, who is joining the series as a new series regular.
We don’t know a lot about the character just yet, and there are suspicions that she will be the new partner for Scola. This has never been confirmed, though, and it’s possible that Scola isn’t thinking too much about working closely with someone just yet. After all, he’ll be grieving the loss of Rhodes, despite her not being around for too long.
It makes sense to bring Martinez’s character in as a friend of Maggie. This can help to reduce the tensions at a time when the team is trying to deal with change.
The case of the week explored
As for the case in FBI season 8, episode 2, the team will need to recover priceless artwork. The artwork is stolen during a high-profile international cultural exchange, and there are no clues as to the ethnicity or who the suspects could be. All we know is that a security guard is killed during the theft, and that means murder as well as other charges.
It could be why Maggie needs to turn to a friend. Art theft isn’t something the team usually deals with, so it makes sense that they’ll need to turn to someone with experience to help get to the bottom of it.
It will be a nice change of pace from all the terrorist attacks and murders that the team has had to deal with recently. Plus, this could be the one that helps ease Isobel back into her job. That is, if she’s back, as she will need some recovery time!
