The FBI season 8 premiere was packed with twists, turns, and answers. We finally learned what had happened to Isobel after her collapse in the FBI season 7 finale.
Caution: This post contains SPOILERS for the FBI season 8 premiere.
All summer, we’ve worried about Isobel. Would the series kill off one of the best characters on the show? Would we be delivered with such a major blow for the first time ever on the series? Well, there was a death, but was it Isobel?
Isobel suffers from a brain bleed in the FBI season 8 premiere
There is some good news to start off the episode. Isobel survived her collapse at the end of the FBI season 7 finale, but she wasn’t completely out of the woods. While in the hospital, doctors found a brain bleed, which means that Isobel needed to go into surgery, while the rest of the team handled the case of the week.
I didn’t find the case all that compelling, if I’m honest. That’s just me when it comes to another big incident that’s going on in the episode. I find myself not getting invested in the case, but I do think I need to watch this episode again, as it ends in a huge way.
Yes, there is a death. And it explains everything for the rest of the season with someone new coming into the show.

Who dies in FBI season 8, episode 1?
During the final moments of the case, Rhodes was shot. It looked like she was hit in the vest, but then we cut to her to find out that she was shot in the abdomen.
That’s when Jubal gets a call to rush back to the hospital. In some great news, Isobel has pulled through surgery, and she’s awake.
The same can’t be said for Rhodes. We learn that she died from her injuries at the scene, and this death is sure to have ripple effects for the team for the rest of the season, especially for Scola. Scola and Rhodes made a great pair, and many of us had hoped that she would stick around for the long term. When we learned that she wouldn’t be around much for FBI season 8, I don’t think any of us expected to see her killed off!
So, here we are with mixed emotions going into the rest of FBI season 8.
FBI airs on Mondays at 9/8c on CBS.
