The previous episode of FBI was a big one, leaving us on a major cliffhanger that left a life on the line. Of course, we need answers, and in some good news, we’ll get those answers. While FBI: International and FBI: Most Wanted were canceled, we knew that FBI season 8 would happen due to a three-season renewal in May 2024.
This is where we end up with some bad news. We have a long wait on our hands, as we enter the summer hiatus. At least we know FBI season 8 will premiere in 2025.

Why FBI won’t be back for the summer
Broadcast networks regularly take the summer months off, as this is the time when the viewership drops. People want to spend time outside while the weather is good, or they’re going on vacation. It makes sense to hold the top shows over the summer, bringing them back in the fall.
At the same time, this allows the cast and crew to get some time off. Writing has started on FBI season 8, and then production will start in the summer. This ensures there are a few episodes in the bank before the premiere, allowing a smooth run for a while.

When will FBI season 8 premiere on CBS?
Now eyes are on when the series will return, because we need answers to that major cliffhanger. We need to know if we’re losing an original cast member of FBI. In some bad news, we have to wait until at least September, but it could be October 2025, as CBS has started to hold shows until then to help keep some of the breaks in the schedule to a minimum.
CBS announced a major change to the schedule at the May Upfronts. FBI is on the move, leaving Tuesday nights for the first time in seven years. The eighth season will air on Mondays at 9 p.m. ET/PT, taking over NCIS’s time slot. NCIS is moving back to Tuesdays.
FBI will lead into the new spinoff series, CIA. This series will follow a joint FBI/CIA task force, with Tom Ellis in the lead. That will also premiere in the fall.
FBI is available to stream on Paramount+.
