FBI is switching nights on CBS for the first time ever in fall 2025

FBI is on the move in fall 2025 to a new night, as NCIS Night takes over Tuesdays.

The fall schedules for each of the networks are here, and CBS will see some major changes. One of those is to FBI, which will move nights for the first time ever. Tuesdays will no longer be FBI Night.

As we previously mentioned, Tuesday nights are now going to be NCIS Night. It’s a great move, as there are three NCIS shows airing right now, and a potential to continue growing this popular franchise. NCIS is moving back to Tuesdays at 8 p.m. ET/PT, and then we’ll get NCIS: Origins and NCIS: Sydney.

FBI is moving to Mondays

When revealing the fall schedule, CBS shared that NCIS and FBI will switch timeslots. So, FBI season 8 will air on Mondays at 9 p.m. ET/PT. It’s the first time that the series has aired on a night other than Tuesdays, as the series originally aired at 9 p.m. ET/PT on Tuesdays behind NCIS when it first premiered.

Following the series will be the new spinoff, CIA, starring Tom Ellis. This will take over the current NCIS: Origins timeslot.

Manhunt
“Manhunt” - When the team’s sex trafficking sting operation goes sideways, the team races to recover a human trafficking victim. Meanwhile, Maggie makes a connection with a 911 operator to help find the girl before she is whisked out of the city or worse, on FBI, Tuesday, Feb. 18 (8:00-9:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network, and streaming on Paramount+ (live and on demand for Paramount+ with SHOWTIME subscribers, or on demand for Paramount+ Essential subscribers the day after the episode

Why is FBI on the move?

The move makes a lot of sense when you consider the number of shows in the two big franchises for the network. FBI will only have two shows airing in the 2025–2026 TV season, as both FBI: International and FBI: Most Wanted have both been canceled. Meanwhile, NCIS has the three shows.

Mondays already have the one-hour comedy block, and CBS isn’t getting rid of that. That leaves two hours to fill rather than three, so it makes sense to give it to the franchise with just two shows in it. Tuesdays will still have the three hours to fill.

When will FBI season 8 premiere?

Now eyes are on when we can expect the return of the series. At the time of writing this, the finale hasn’t even aired, so we’re not going to break that down. Instead, we’ll focus on a potential timetable, because while CBS released its fall schedule, no premiere date were mentioned.

Most CBS shows premiere in September or October when they are fall shows. There has been more of a shift to October as this helps to cut down on the need for breaks in the middle of the slate, creating a more consistent schedule for viewers. It certainly worked out well in the 2024–2025 TV season compared to NBC’s constant on-off slate for the One Chicago and Law & Order franchises, so it wouldn’t be surprising if CBS stuck with that.

So, with that in mind, we’re potentially looking at an October 2025 premiere date, but we’ll be sure to keep an eye on things so you don’t need to worry.
