At the end of the previous episode, Margaret dropped the bombshell that Heather is actually Lena. Found season 2, episode 18 finds the team figuring out if that is really the case.

Caution: This post contains SPOILERS for Found season 2, episode 18.

Not everyone wants to believe that Heather is actually Lena. In fact, Gabi is even wondering if that is the case, but she knows Margaret and trusts her. Margaret wouldn’t have said anything had she not been sure, and she’s sure.

In fact, we learn from Sir that Heather is Lena. He has known all along, despite the last couple of episodes not giving any hint that he knew her before she became his defense lawyer. It does make sense why she would want to defend him, though.

Trent doesn’t want to believe the truth at first in Found season 2, episode 18

Naturally, Sir doesn’t want to believe that Heather is actually Lena. To be honest, I’m glad that they do their research into this. What if she wasn’t, and it just turned out that she had some familial traits for another reason? Well, Trent decides to get Heather to meet him at the precinct, and it’s there that she slips up a little. She is way too interested in Christian’s box of evidence — who definitely seems to be dead, by the way!

With this, Trent starts to look through old photos, and he spots something that helps him link Heather/Lena to Christian’s place of death. He knows that he needs to look into the death of Christian once more, and he figures out that Christian definitely didn’t kill himself, but Heather made it look like he did.

So, we get the confirmation that Christian is definitely dead. I’m still confused why the M&A Team didn’t seem to know that Christian was dead a couple of episodes ago but have now known for some time. I wonder if it’s the order the episodes were written or a small element in the scripts that was overlooked. Either way, the death happened off screen, and I’m not sure I like that. Christian deserved better, but that would have led to us learning Heather’s identity too early.

Heather knows that Trent is onto her and she goes to see Sir. How could any of the team figure it out? Well, Sir realizes that Heather crossed paths with Margaret, and he knows her Margaret vision is a real thing. He doesn’t underestimate her. Plus, it helped that Margaret came in all confident in the previous episode, as if she had something on him, and now he’s figured out what.

Gabi and co. need to figure out who the real Heather is

Something Trent also finds out is that the Heather who took the bar exam in New York is not the same Heather as Lena. So, she may have taken the bar exam elsewhere, but she didn’t take the bar exam where she had to be fingerprinted. Trent was able to lift the fingerprint of a card and compare the two.

Great, so where’s the real Heather? There is no missing persons case out there, but that doesn’t mean anything right now.

Gabi decides to head to the prison to talk to Sir. He is the only person who can shed some light on the entire Heather/Lena situation, and if he is willing to talk to anyone, it’s her. She offers him what he craves — face time with her. She’s not going in alone, though, and seeing Ethan standing there with her is a beautiful sight. The two have come a long way as they’ve restarted their therapy sessions. I think Gabi taking a step back from Dhan’s life has really helped, as well as Gabi wanting to face jail time for the things she’s done.

There is a storm in the area that cuts out all the power, though. That leads to a lockdown in the prison, and Gabi is forced to go to Sir’s cell for protection. We get to see this mixture of emotion. Sir isn’t going to physically hurt her while in the cell, but she is trapped with the monster that he is. This does give her time to figure out why and how Sir has known so much about Gabi’s cases. She learns about the guard that is working for Sir.

While there isn’t a lot that goes on in the prison cell, this does give Gabi some of the much-needed answers to solve a few riddles. There has been a lot that she has struggled with, but I think that now she knows what’s going on, she can move forward just a little more in her healing. She also gets a chance to be angry that he didn’t allow her to atone for her sins, and that’s a huge step forward. She is able to direct her anger at him in a calm and rational way, not fearing what he’ll do or say when they are in this enclosed space.

Her reaching out to Ethan — who is safe thanks to being closer to the exit when the power went down at first — at the very end is also some excellent forward motion for her. She is seriously about dealing with her feelings about Sir, and Ethan is serious about helping her.

Lacey sees how deep Zeke’s fears go in Found

During the power outage, Zeke completely freaks out. He forgot to get oil for the generator, and that means all of his power is out. He doesn’t have eyes on the front door, and it leaves him feeling trapped and terrified. Lacey is there with him, but this is the first time she’s seen his trauma come out in such a panic.

The ending is heartbreaking, though. Lacey wants to talk about what happened, but Zeke isn’t interested in that. He wants to deal with this in his own way, and that means ignoring that it happened. I do see that Lacey is coming from a good place, but you can’t get someone to seek help until they are ready for it.

Of course, it’s clear that Zeke knows that he needs help dealing with the feeling of being trapped when he can’t see anything. Pushing Lacey away is what he knows how to do, though. He wants to live in his bubble where it’s safe, but he’s going to lose people if he does that. The M&A team members don’t judge for how each other deals with their trauma, but they do encourage people to get help for things that they can change when the trauma becomes harmful. Just look at Dhan getting Margaret the help she needed.

Margaret faces her son’s abductor

Finally, Margaret has gotten to the bottom of the mystery that has haunted her for years! It’s all about who took Jamie.

Just hearing the words about the clouds parting gave Margaret the one piece of evidence she needed. She went straight home to find a particular drawing in Found season 2, episode 17, and now we know why. In a flashback, we see a woman called Kerry giving her that drawing, saying that her son drew it.

Well, it turns out that Kerry took Jamie, changing his name to Nicholas so that Margaret wouldn’t become suspicious. Through a string of flashbacks, we see how Margaret’s words are twisted by Kerry and how Jamie starts to believe that Margaret didn’t want him. As Margaret suspected had happened, Kerry made it seem like Jamie was a burden to Margaret so that he would choose to remain with her.

As Margaret figured it all out, she decided to invite Kerry over, encouraging Kerry to stay until she was able to fully confront her about everything. When Jamie comes over and sees the two there, Kerry is able to take advantage of the shock, hitting Margaret over the head and running away.

Of course, Kerry is now on the run. Trent isn’t exactly going to let her go off, and neither will Gabi and co. when they find out the truth. Margaret is okay, as Jamie is able to get her to the hospital, but I’m sure Jamie has a lot of questions. How much did Jamie believe Margaret, and what was the turning point that made Jamie realize that maybe Kerry was lying to him?

I’m so glad that Jamie has turned out to be Jamie, because this offers so much of a deeper story than him pretending to be Margaret’s long-lost son. We get a chance to see why people can end up remaining abducted, and a little of how Stockholm Syndrome can happen. At the same time, there’s hope that Jamie can see through the lies and manipulation to figure out what really happened.

The very end of the episode saw a woman show up at M&A. She is the real Heather, coming to see why the M&A Team is looking for her. It’s time to get some answers, and we need to wait until next week for them!

Fortunately, we’re only waiting until Monday for the answers. Remember that next week is the week that Found will air on Monday instead of Thursday.

Catch the next episode of Found on Monday, April 14 before it moves back to Thursdays the week after on NBC.
