From the beginning of Found, we knew Margaret was dealing with a missing child. She felt guilt over his disappearance and would spend every evening at the bus station. We finally understood everything about Margaret’s guilt in Found season 2, episode 8.
Caution: This post contains SPOILERS from Found season 2, episode 8.
The new episode of Found brought us a case that involved a missing woman. A young girl came to M&A for Gabi’s help to find her mother, sharing that a man named Cain was after them.
The case took a turn. Everything the young girl knew wasn’t true. She had family out there, but her mom suffers from schizophrenia. Cain wasn’t real, and the girl’s mom had never been taken. While it was a case to give the team focus for the episode, it wasn’t all that important in the grand scheme of things. All it showed us was that Gabi and Trent continue to try to work together despite everything against them.
Zeke has a new set-up in Found season 2, episode 8
At the end of the previous episode, Trent went into Zeke’s home with a warrant for everything. Trent shared in the new episode that Zeke was lucky that he managed to get hold of the warrant and execute it, otherwise Zeke would have been arrested and placed in jail.
Well, maybe Trent shouldn’t have left Zeke in the house. Zeke was able to get more tech equipment with overnight shipping to get everything set back up. Sure, Gabi wasn’t all that happy about it, but she needs Zeke and his skills. And Zeke wants to help. Gabi just had to spend the episode making sure Trent didn’t see that Zeke was set back up again—plausible deniability is important for Trent at this point, and that’s what Gabi is offering.
We continue to see how everyone is willing to break the law to get things done. It’s funny how everyone is angry at Gabi for what she did with Sir, but they’re not all that innocent themselves. Despite all their anger, Gabi continues to try to protect and help them.
Sir pays Zeke a visit in Found
We know that Sir is after all of those working with Gabi. The start of the season saw Zeke poisoned, but it turns out that Sir doesn’t actually want any of them dead. He wants to “help” them. His first call is to Zeke’s house.
Zeke is so angry that he steps out of the house. Crossing over that line is something Zeke has never bene able to do, but the anger toward Sir overpowered the fear of going outside. Sir points this out and shares that he just wants to “help” everyone.
Really, Sir wants to make it so none of them need Gabi. He wants to get Gabi alone, and we see in the flashbacks that Sir has always tried to force Gabi away from any sort of support system, so that he can get to Gabi.
Zeke does tell Gabi about Sir’s visit at the end of the episode. Zeke may have been scared and angry, but he is also smart. He had time to think about things, and he knows that Sir has a plan for everyone. Despite knowing that he could end up locked up, Zeke hacked Trent’s email to get the letter that was sent to Gabi. This led to the cliffhanger ending with Gabi heading back to high school to face Sir.
Gabi didn’t go alone, though. She went with a gift from Bella’s mom. She has knuckle dusters, and she will fight back if she needs to. It’s time to take the fight to Sir.
Margaret faces her guilt in the Found season 2 fall finale
The majority of the Found season 2 fall finale focused on Margaret, who asked Ethan to help her forget about a memory. Ethan told everyone that Margaret said it helped, but she ends up going off the grid. She doesn’t meet Taylor, her daughter, for lunch as promised either.
Taylor is, understandably, worried about her mom. She shared that she knew this day would be hard for Margaret. It’s Jamie’s birthday. That was why Taylor wanted to meet with her mom, and it’s why she’s so worried now.
Sure enough, Margaret was planning to end it all. Those memories were about the day that Jamie went missing. Margaret was sat at the bus station with her son. All she wanted was five minutes of peace, and she told Jamie to go to the end of the seats and play with his toy train. When she looked back up from her crossword, Jamie was gone. Those five minutes turned into a lifetime.
Dahn tells Margaret that wanting five minutes of peace doesn’t make her a bad parent. It makes her human. We spend so much time vilifying mothers, especially, for their need to have a break from their children. It’s easy to forget that mothers are people. We have weaknesses, and there are times that we need five minutes to think. Going to the end of a row of chairs should have been fine. It’s not like there were a lot of people between Margaret and Jamie to block the view of him being taken.
It’s no wonder Margaret has spent every night at the bus station with the same lunch. It’s the lunch she had the day he went missing. And by showing up to the bus station, she hopes that if Jamie just ran away, he will see her there and he will come back to her. Margaret’s obsession makes a lot more sense than it ever has.
Dahn is able to get through to Margaret. He makes it clear that if Margaret walked into the water and ended it all, he would follow her. He needs Margaret just as much as Margaret needs the rest of them. We end with Margaret getting the psychological help that she needs, finally.
What does this all mean for Margaret now? Will she find a healthier way to cope with her guilt? Will she be able to help others fully explain her obsession? It’s going to be an interesting second half of the season.
Overall, the standalone cases are turning more into the side story for the episodes. There isn’t as much focus on them and the way the team works together as there was in the first season. However, the more we learn about the various members of the M&A team, the more I’m intrigued by their pasts and how they are so connected to Gabi.
