After a long winter break, Found season 2, episode 9 finally aired. It’s time to look back at the events of the episode.
Caution: This post contains SPOILERS from Found season 2, episode 9.
There’s a lot to catch up on at the start of Found, and the series does a good job of that. We’re reminded of Zeke’s equipment being seized by the cops (which isn’t coming back any time too soon), Lacey’s opportunity to go back to law school (which she isn’t sure about yet), and the sad state of Dahn and Ethan’s marriage (which they don’t seem to be fighting for).
However, the focus is on Gabi, who we saw entering her old high school at the end of Found’s fall finale. It turns out that Gabi wasn’t actually the one Sir wanted to lure in. It was Trent, but Sir has an opportunity to reveal something about Trent’s past. He’s not as good as he seems to be.
The team works a case without Gabi in Found season 2, episode 9
All Lacey knew at the start of the episode was that Gabi had to run out on a personal errand. Dahn and Lacey had no idea how long Gabi would be, so they got to work on the case right away. This one involved a man who had relapsed on drugs and had been missing for a couple of days. His girlfriend, also a former addict who helped a lot of other addicts, had a letter from him that asked for her to trust him, and that’s why she’d left it a couple of days.
There was a point people believed that Ian was in the morgue, but that turned out not to be the case. Fortunately, by this point, Gabi was back with the team, and that allowed an extra set of hands-on deck.
Ian was certainly up to something that his girlfriend didn’t know about. To get money for drugs, he was stealing luggage at the airport. This is one of those cases where it’s difficult to have sympathy for the missing person, but you just want something to turn out different than it looks.
I will say that this episode did a great job of offering empathy for Ian. Having Dahn share his past and share how he changed his opinion of addicts was the best way to handle this.
The M&A Team don’t get Gabi for long, as Trent ends up taking her phone and taking her in for questioning. He knows she’s been working with Sir, and now he wants to get answers. I couldn’t help but think throughout this that Trent was actually trying to protect Gabi. He’d spotted something in one of those letters, and he knew that Gabi wasn’t safe.
Eventually, everything starts to fall into place. Ian witnessed a death in a DC jail two years earlier and was released early in return for testifying. Well, that has now come up, and he’s now in protection. Of course Trent would know abut this, so now it makes sense why Trent was trying to prevent the press conference and Gabi working on the case.
Sir has a secret he’s been working on
We know that Sir just wants Gabi, but he isn’t the one who lured Gabi to the high school. Well, he did, but he didn’t actually want to lure Gabi. He was trying to lure Trent, and he didn’t want Gabi around.
What’s he doing? Well, he’s working on solving the problems of all of the M&A members. After initially trying to kill them, he’s decided to help them. Maybe then, Gabi will leave with him willingly. All he wants is her companionship, and he wants to show that they make a good team.
Sir then reveals the surprise. He has information about Jamie, Margaret’s son. Is this the truth? I’m on the side of believing him about this. However, it’s clear that Trent is hiding something about his past. There are many cases of missing kids. Is it possible that Trent worked on some of them in the past?
Before Gabi could leave as Sir asked, she’s hit over the head. The next thing we know, Trent finds her and all the evidence has been cleared out. Sir clearly has someone working with him, but he didn’t want Gabi hurt in all this.
We finally meet Danielle Savre’s character in Found season 2, episode 9
We had been wondering all season who Danielle Saver would play, and we finally got some answers in the new episode. As Trent started the day, Savre’s Heather, who turns out to be a criminal defense attorney. That’s sure to come up at some point.
A show like this doesn’t bring a character in like this without that character being much bigger to the story. Was it really that surprising that Heather texted Trent to say she left something at his place? I’ll be honest and say I don’t remember giving numbers for a one-night stand, and that’s clearly what Heather seemed to hint this was at first.
Lacey proves that she’s still a boss when she needs to be
One thing this episode does is give Lacey a chance to shine. I think with everything that’s happened in the first part of Found season 2, it’s easy to forget that Lacey was in law school. When she walks into the questioning room, she takes over. Sure, Trent knows that she’s just a law school student, but he can’t argue with her. What he’s doing with Gabi is wrong on a number of levels.
However, this also offers Lacey a chance to show vulnerability with Gabi. After being captured and closed off a little due to Gabi’s lies, Lacey shows that she still needs her protector and virtual big sister. She is angry that Gabi went after Sir alone, and she’s angry that Gabi is willing to die to capture Sir. Lacey can’t lose her, and I think this is a point where the team can finally start to fully mend.
This and Ian’s case are the pushes she needs to get back to law school. It’s so great to see Lacey take control of her life again. Being taken by Sir could have pushed her back into the silent little girl she was as Bella, but she’s taking charge and pushing ahead.
There is some hope for others as well. Trent gets Zeke his stuff back (especially after learning Sir came to the house and taunted him) and Dahn and Ethan have a phone call now that they’re living apart.
Who was shot in Found season 2, episode 9
The end of the episode saw the M&A team get to the courthouse, where Ian would do the right thing and testify. However, things are thrown off when there are gun shots from a distance. Trent and Gabi are fine, but Gabi sees blood on her jacket.
“Who got hit?”
It turned out that it was Dahn. Just as Dahn and Ethan seem to fight for their marriage, it looks like there may be no more. Ethan asks Gabi to leave the hospital. If this is going to be his last moment with Dahn, he doesn’t want Gabi there.
Sending Gabi home was a good thing, though, as she realized why they can’t find Sir. A photo of Dahn holding a toy RV makes her realize that Sir is traveling in an RV.
However, as Gabi calls Trent, she has to leave a voicemail. Part of that was because Sir paid Trent a visit. Sir finally gets a chance to share why he wanted Trent to show up. Those missing kids were clearly from a serial kidnapper and possibly murderer. Sir realizes that Trent’s dad was the lead detective, and he threatens to expose this if Trent doesn’t drop the case against Gabi.
Then there’s another twist to the story. Gabi gets to Trent’s house as there’s a gunshot. We’ll have to wait for the next episode to find out what’s going on.
I am enjoying the fast pace of this story. Found isn’t dragging with Sir working on getting Gabi. There isn’t a lot of him playing a game in the background. However, I would like to see who he’s working with, and how Heather could be involved.
