When it comes to genres for broadcast TV, there are two most popular ones: crime and medical. In a turn of events, though, FOX only has one of both of these genres coming in fall 2025.
In some good news for the network, it’s one of the first premiere dates. Only ABC beats FOX with High Potential, but the rest of the crime dramas on that network are being held for October. NBC is waiting until later in September and October, while CBS is holding everything for October. This could be a good move for FOX.

Murder in a Small Town is the only crime drama on FOX
As of right now, Murder in a Small Town season 2 will be the only crime drama premiering on FOX in fall 2025. It will premiere on Tuesday, Sept. 23 at 8/7c, kicking off a night of drama. Come October, this could be a bad move as it will go up against CBS’s NCIS night, but for now, it’s a potentially good move.
The point that this is going to get scary for the show (and Doc season 2, which will follow it) is when the NBA season starts up. NBC now has the rights for airing the NBA games, and it could cause some competition on Tuesday nights. We’ll have to see how it plays out and whether it’s as problematic for Murder in a Small Town was as FOX having NFL games on Thursdays was for other networks in the past.

What happened to all the other crime dramas?
To be honest, FOX hasn’t been the home for many crime dramas. In the most recent years, we’ve had 911: Lone Star, Accused, The Cleaning Lady, and Alert: Missing Persons Unit. The latter two were both midseason shows, and they were both canceled earlier in 2025.
Accused is still sort of on the bubble. This is one of those shows that gets away with a long break in between seasons, because it’s an anthology show. Each episode is a standalone story, and that means the creative team can take time off and then come back with a set of new stories to tell in the future. It’s why the delay between the first and second season wasn’t as problematic as it was for other shows.
911: Lone Star came to an end after five seasons. No, the show didn’t want to come to an end, but FOX decided it was time for it to wrap things up. That’s why the ending felt so rushed, and we’re still disappointed that Grace wasn’t there for the final season.

There is a crime drama in the works at FOX
There is one crime drama that FOX that has landed a series order. It’s all about Memory of a Killer, which has a rather interesting setup. What happens when a hitman ends up with Alzheimer’s Disease?
The disease is horrible enough, but what happens when this hitman doesn’t remember the present day? And what if he doesn’t quite remember what’s going on in his present day but remembers the past well?
This is set to premiere sometime in the 2025–2026 TV season, which means we’re looking at January 2026 at the earliest for it. We’re here for it!
