The High Potential season 1 finale brought Morgan her toughest case yet. It also brought a few answers and cliffhangers for season 2.
Caution: This post contains SPOILERS for High Potential season 1, episode 13.
The High Potential season 1 finale did not disappoint. The one thing we are glad about is that there is a second season. It's going to be needed after those major cliffhangers. Let's start with the episode, though. What happened, and was Oz saved?
Do you want to play a game in the High Potential season 1 finale?
The episode opened with Major Crimes getting something from a tip line. Someone sent a photo asking the LAPD to play a game with him because someone else didn't want to play. That led to Morgan solving a jigsaw puzzle and playing a card game with Karadec to get to where the victim was.
It was in time to save the victim, who was a diabetic and needed insulin within a certain amount of time. This set up a storyline as someone else was taken and Morgan needed to figure more out. Fortunately, her head filled with what would usually be useless facts help to save another life.
It's connected to Oz in a way in High Potential
What is interesting is that this is somewhat connected to Oz. He realizes that a person is taking people from his grief group. Nobody except Daphne knew that Oz went to this grief group, or that his dad had died a year earlier. Oz keeps a lot of stuff to himself, which shows his closeness to Daphne but also just how much people tend to ignore him in the workplace.
It's because Oz explains that he recognized the first victim from the grief group that the LAPD figure out that a second victim has been taken. The LAPD get everyone from the grief group in, which is when they note that Sierra is missing. Sure enough, Sierra was the next victim, who had been locked in a safe.
The group also helps the LAPD figure out who the person behind it all could be. A man named David Peck was there, grieving over the loss of his sister. Only, it wasn't his sister that he was sad about losing. It was the way his family stopped playing games after her death. When he asked the grief group to go to a trivia night with him and nobody showed, it was the break for David to attack the rest of the group.
Oz becomes the next victim. David leaves the word "Marco" with a timer and a silk tie. They all realize that Oz is somewhere with a pool, but there are many houses that hve pools. It's only when Daphne realizes that the fonts on all the notes are different that Morgan is finally able to piece it all together. The first letter of each font name puts together a name of an architect, and there's only one house in the whole of LA built by him with a pool.
Is it in time? It doesn't look it at first, but Karadec pulls Oz out of the water and Daphne performs CPR to save his life.

High Potential season 1 finale ending explained: The two cliffhangers
Throughout the episode, Morgan met with Gio. He then texted her to tell her to meet him at a specific apartment. Karadec decided that he wanted to take over the investigation, so he goes to the apartment instead. Naturally, Gio is angry, especially since his son is in the apartment, too.
Gio isn't leading Morgan on. He just doesn't want to end up killed or his son in trouble, and he definitely doesn't want to end up behind bars. However, he does tell Karadec something.
At the very end of the episode, Karadec has good news for Morgan. Roman is alive. This is great for Ava, who was putting together a book of photos for her dad if he ever turned up. She didn't want to give up hope that he is somewhere out there. The big question now is why he would stay away from his whole family? What is he like after all these years?
Morgan has her own problems, though. While at the grocery store, she bumps into a seemingly nice guy. Of course, nice guys aren't that nice after all, and Morgan later finds a note that he dropped in her bags. It says “You’re the one, Morgan. We shall play again. Me and you.”
The man, played by David Giuntoli, is David Peck. Only, he's not David Peck. It turns out that the real David Peck had been in a rehab facility for the last four months. Someone has assumed his identity, which explains why the picture of David Peck doesn't quite match the sketch. Who is the guy who attacked Oz and others?
This was a great episode with a lot of twists and turns. High Potential managed to keep it light, but we also got some depth to other characters. I hope we get more of Oz and Daphne in Hight Potential season 2.
High Potential is available to stream on Hulu to play catch up.
