Since Steve Howey was named as one of the new actors joining High Potential season 2, we’ve been excited to meet him. That’s going to happen in High Potential season 2, episode 4.
The promo for the episode is out, and we learn why Howey’s character is coming in. The department decided to overlook Soto for the Captain’s Chair. Instead, they wanted someone outside of the department, and that leads to Captain Nick Wagner.
Morgan is not happy about the situation in High Potential season 2, episode 4
In the promo, Morgan makes her dislike of the situation clear. She wanted to see her boss land the job, but now she has to get to know someone else. She’s already dealt with cops from other departments looking down on Morgan as a “cleaning lady” rather than the genius that she is, and that’s probably going to play on her mind with the newbie.
Well, it turns out that Wagner has heard a lot about Morgan, and he doesn’t seem to be a threat to her just yet. Maybe for once, the show is going to go in an opposite direction to every other show out there. Wouldn’t it be nice to have a newbie come in and accept Morgan, seeing how she works and even accepting that sometimes the cops don’t have all the answers?
I hope we see the emotions from Soto losing out on the chair. She’s likely to be angry that she’s been passed up, and the team will need to rally around her, but also still be respectful to the authority in the place.
There’s a case to solve at the same time
As the team gets used to a new boss, there is also a case to solve. A woman called 911 when she witnessed a crime, but she ended up being killed while still on the phone to 911. She didn’t get all the details out, and now Major Crimes is moving in to figure it all out.
It turns out that this case could be linked to a cold case. High Potential season 1 brought a cold case for Soto and the others to solve, and now we’re getting another one in the second season. Will this be one that Morgan actually remembers, or did it happen so long ago that even she wasn’t born? Maybe it’s one that she read about.
