We are a little over 5 weeks away from the premiere of 911 season 9 on ABC. With production currently ongoing and fans eagerly waiting to find out how things will play out for the firefighters with the 118, we’re looking forward to what storylines await the team. This is especially true for Ravi Panikkar (Anirudh Pisharody).
Ravi has been a firefighter with the 118 since season 4 and even though he has mainly been part of B shift, he often comes on scene to help A shift when needed, especially when they are one short a firefighter.
This was the case in 911 season 5 when he gave the team a hand during Howie “Chimney” Han’s (Kenny Choi) absence, and just the previous season when Eddie Diaz (Ryan Guzman) took time off from the team after moving to Texas.
Ravi had a couple of big moments in the season 8 episodes that would culminate in the death of Captain Bobby Nash (Peter Krause). He had been ready to quit being a firefighter when he missed an infant in a car accident that almost led to Bobby dying before his actual death.

What will Ravi Panikkar's role look like on 911 season 9?
He stayed with the team at the behest of Evan “Buck” Buckley (Oliver Stark), but after surviving the lab explosion and being unaware Bobby was dying, could his survivor’s guilt continue to play into the next season?
While Pisharody is not a main cast member, behind-the-scenes moments from the 911 Instagram account have shown he is still around as a team member. Even though the actor was recently cast in a film role, fans should still be able to see plenty of Ravi before he likely moves to B shift again, in case Pisharody has to miss an episode or two.

However, fans have loved the burgeoning friendship between Ravi and Buck, who gave Ravi great advice to keep him from quitting and also worked with him as partners in the 911 season 8 finale. We could see the two bonding over what happened to Bobby and seeing how they continue to work well together, especially since Buck had trained Ravi when he was still a probie.
Since Ravi is no longer a probie, as he reminded his colleague in the 911 season 8, episode 16 funeral, does this mean the show will bring a new firefighter on board?
With the recent announcement that Corinne Massiah and Elijah M. Cooper are now series regulars, we could see one of them join the team in honor of their stepfather, Bobby. This could also give Ravi some good storylines if he also takes on a mentor role like Buck did before.
However season 9 plays out for Ravi, we’re looking forward to seeing how the events of season 8 have shaped his story and how he will continue to work alongside the rest of the 118.
You can watch 911 season 9 when it premieres on Thursday, Oct. 9 at 8/7c. Episodes are available to watch on Hulu.
