Things are changing on The Rookie season 8 after the events in the premiere, and we’re not just talking about living arrangements. Things are changing in the workplace now that Lieutenant Wade Grey got a job offer he couldn’t turn down.
After his wife made it clear that she was taking a job offer rather than continue to put her career on hold, which would mean they would see less of each other, Grey took that as a sign that he could do something similar. So, when FBI Agent Matthew Garza offered him a position to work as a liaison to the FBI, he decided that it was the job for him.

Is Lieutenant Grey’s job up for grabs on The Rookie season 8?
What does this mean for everyone at the LAPD? Well, according to ScreenRant, a lot of big things are coming, and one of those is a shift in leadership. The position of lieutenant is going to be up for grabs, and we know what that means based on how other TV shows handle it. Usually, we get to see someone we already know get a promotion.
Right now, Tim Bradford is the primary candidate for that job, and it would certainly mean a shift for Lucy and Tim’s relationship. They have just moved in with each other, getting back together and proving that they can handle both their professional and personal lives. What could a promotion to officer level mean for the two of them, and can they handle that? They better be able to!
It’s not just about him and Lucy, though, as Tim will have to figure out what it means to be an officer as well. He’s a veteran patrol officer, and that’s a job that he loves to do. Going up the ranks will change everything that he does on a day-to-day basis, and does he necessarily want that?

What does Grey’s promotion mean for him on The Rookie season 8?
Another question is what it means for Richard T. Jones on the series. Will we see less of him now that Grey is working with the feds, more? This will all depend on the type of storylines that the series could come up with.
In some good news, we’ve seen how moving out of the rookie pen didn’t change too much for Lopez and Harper. They became detectives, and we’ve still seen plenty of them both in terms of professional and personal development. We could see the same for Grey, especially as this promotion will change things considerably at home.
Grey will work with Garza to take on some of the bigger cases that involve Monica Stevens. This is sure to pull in the LAPD, as it’s a team Grey trusts, and it could mean new plot challenges and development. Like when others moved into other lines of work, that’s what we’ll get to see with Grey.
The Rookie airs on Tuesdays at 10/9c on ABC and streams the following day on Hulu.
