The NBC season finales have been sneaking up on us. It’s time for The Hunting Party season 1 finale to air tonight, Monday, April 7, and we’re not quite ready for it.

Yes, it really is the season finale. This first season was only set to be 10 episodes long, which is quite common for midseason freshman series. I’ll admit that I actually like these shorter season orders, as it means less filler content and a lot of answers to mysteries — although, some of those answers tend to lead to more questions, like they have with this series.

What to expect in The Hunting Party season 1 finale

The finale is titled “Jenna Wells,” which is the name of the serial killer the team is after. This is the most deranged serial killer in The Pit. In fact, it sounds like she is “Patient Zero” within The Pit, and that makes her the most dangerous because she’s been through her “treatments” the longest.

Jenna is a chemist who loves to use her science to kill people. What Bex and team don’t know is why she ended up being the center of the entire Pit. With Odell introducing Bex to his contact from The Pit and the attack on it, there’s a chance that Bex will get some much-needed information. Will we finally find out exactly why The Pit was created in the first place?

Will The Hunting Party season 2 happen?

With the finale here, it’s time to look ahead at the chances of the series being renewed. This is one of those shows that I’m on the fence about. It really could go either way.

Something that is working in The Hunting Party’s favor is that the network doesn’t have a lot of pilots. In fact, there are no drama pilots in consideration for the 2025–2026 TV season. This helps to keep a few slots open, and The Hunting Party is one of the strongest freshman dramas this year. It’s also performing better than a couple of sophomore dramas.

We’ll have to wait and see at this point. We’re probably not going to get information until around the end of April or beginning of May as NBC makes some final decisions before the May Upfronts.

The Hunting Party is available to stream on Peacock.
