The Savant has still not be put back on the schedule. It was pulled shortly after the assassination of Charlie Kirk, and while Apple TV didn’t confirm, it sounds like the topic of the show was the reason for the decision. In The Savant, Chastain plays a mother who finds a way to track down and stop domestic terrorists.
There are rumors from Reddit that there was a character much like Kirk, but that hasn’t been confirmed by Apple TV, Chastain, or the producers. There are also rumors of storylines that involve a sniper, which could have been too close to home for Kirk’s followers. That being said, Apple TV didn’t give a timeline for the postponement, and now recent actions suggest that it’s never going to arrive.

Like many actors, Jessica Chastain puts her most current projects in her social media bio. Earlier in December 2025, she decided to remove The Savant from there, with the focus now on The Dream, which will arrive in theaters in February 2026.
It’s a major decision to do this, and it tells us a lot about what is going on. If Chastain is going to remove something that she proudly worked on and wanted out in the world, it would suggest that Apple TV has decided not completely pull the series off the schedule.
This isn’t just disappointing for Chastain or for the viewers who were gearing up for a story that was based on real events. It’s also a huge blow for the hundreds of people who worked on it, and it suggests that Apple TV cares more about the opinion of a few rather than honoring the release of the show.
Has The Savant been shelved forever?
None of this means that we’ll never get to see The Savant. There is some hope that it will air sometime in 2026. When Apple pulled the series, it likely didn’t have much of a plan to add it back in to the 2025 schedule. After all, there were many other shows that it had to focus on.
So, the focus would have been on 2026. Now, there are a number of shows with 2026 release dates, but the schedule isn’t as set in stone as the end of 2025’s schedule would have been at the time. There was a comment on the Reddit post from above that Apple TV hasn’t shelved the series completely. Chastain is simply focusing on the projects that have a confirmed release date, which does make sense.
The Savant has completed all stages of production, so Apple TV could use it at any time needed.
