Elliot Stabler is back in action in the Law & Order: Organized Crime season 5 premiere. While the series is moving to Peacock this season, the premiere episode will air on NBC tonight, Thursday, April 17.
In a way, the decision to air the episode on the linear channel isn’t that surprising. It’s something that a few broadcast networks are trying. CBS opted for this during fall 2023 when there weren’t enough shows to air because of the writers and actors strikes, and we’ve seen both NBC and ABC do it for shows like The Day of the Jackal and Paradise.
Law & Order: Organized Crime is also a former NBC series. It was renewed but moved to Peacock last year, which is a good thing for the series when it comes to tone and language. This is a more mature show than the other two Law & Order series, and streaming is a better place for something like that.
It’s only the Law & Order: Organized Crime season 5 premiere airing tonight
Fans will only get one episode of Law & Order: Organized Crime season 5 on NBC, but there will be two dropping on Peacock today. Yes, the second episode guest stars Mariska Hargitay, with some hope that there will be another positive update about Benson and Stabler. Look, we’ve waited extremely patiently for this!
It looks like Benson will show up because of something big in the premiere episode. I don’t want to spoil the episodes as they’re available on Peacock right now, but if you’re waiting for the premiere to air on NBC to give it support, then you’ll want to avoid this TVLine article!
The new season follows the dangerous words of high-tech domestic terrorism and cross-border smuggling. As you would expect, there is a crime family involved, and it’s going to affect the Stabler family directly. This family wants revenge for the injury he did to them in Rome.
When will Law & Order: Organized Crime season 5 air on Peacock?
The remaining episodes will drop on Peacock on a weekly basis. Considering fans are used to Thursdays being Law & Order night, it makes sense to keep the release to Thursdays moving forward.
Episodes will drop once a week on Thursdays. Peacock tends to release content around 6 a.m. ET/3 a.m. PT, so you’ll be able to watch as soon as you want.
There are 10 episodes to the season, which feels short considering previous seasons have had episode counts in the teens, but it makes sense for a streaming show. Plus, this allows the storyline to remain focused on one bigger plot, and it’s sure to feel similar to the first season of the Law & Order spin-off.
Law & Order: Organized Crime airs Thursdays on Peacock.
