Law & Order returns after taking a week off, and we’re jumping into a rather tricky case for Riley and Shaw. It turns out that DA Baxter may be connected.
Before Law & Order went on its one-week break, we knew that the new episode would involve DA Baxter and his personal life. He’s dating the enemy, and it will lead to him having to recuse himself from the case. After all, a conflict of interest is a terrible thing.
Thanks to our friends at NBCUniversal, we have a sneak peek of Law & Order season 24, episode 15, and it introduces the case in the episode. Also, is Riley afraid of dogs? It certainly seems it!
Law & Order season 24, episode 15 sneak peek
The episode opens with a witness giving his statement. This witness found the body and called it in, but he also witnessed an argument beforehand. He shares a few details with Riley and Shaw, but for some of the conversation, he’s trying to control his dog. Bentley is not happy about Riley and Shaw being around.
To be honest, it’s Riley that Bentley is most agitated against, and it looks like Riley is a little uncomfortable about the dog barking at him. There is an eye roll from Riley at one point, but all the dog is doing is protecting his owner. Dogs can sense fear and distrust, and it wouldn’t surprise me if Bentley felt some sort of fear coming from Riley.
Shaw is completely ignoring the dog, knowing that this is how dogs react. It’s not like the witness isn’t trying to control Bentley. He has Bentley close by him, and he manages to get Bentley to stop barking toward the end of the clip. I get a sense that this is going to come up soon, and it’ll tell us more about Riley and his history with dogs.
Back onto the case at hand, though. The witness doesn’t have many details about the woman, but he knows he’ll recognize her in a line-up.
The question I have is why the victim had Baxter’s business card in his pocket. This case is going to get far trickier before it can be solved.
