We start off with some disappointing, but not all that surprising, news about Law & Order: SVU. There isn’t a new episode airing tonight, Thursday, Nov. 27. Look, it’s Thanksgiving, and even if NBC wasn’t airing the football game, it wouldn’t make sense to air an episode over the holiday.
However, there is more bad news. The previous episode, which aired on Thursday, Nov. 20, was the fall finale. This means there are no more new episodes of the series in 2025. There will likely be some reruns here and there, but you’ll want to turn to Peacock to see Benson and her team back in action.
Law & Order: SVU season 27 will return in January 2026
There is some good news, though, as we do have a return date for the series. NBC announced that it will bring Law & Order: SVU back on Thursday, Jan. 8. The episode will air at 9/8c as usual, following a new episode of Law & Order season 25.
There is a change to the last show of the night. Rather than Organized Crime returning, NBC will bring The Hunting Party season 2 to our screens. I’m still worried about the timeslot for the series, but I’ll be here to support it!
In some even more exciting news, the winter premiere is going to be a big one. NBC has confirmed that Law & Order and SVU will have a crossover on the Thursday, Jan. 8 episodes. There are no details on how it will play out just yet, but we’re excited to see the two teams working together — or will they be against each other again?
Another Law & Order: SVU break is on the way
Now for a bit more bad news — but it will work out as good news at the same time. There is another break coming in February, as NBC will air the Winter Olympic Games.
Of course, between January and March, we get a strange on-off schedule, as there aren’t enough episodes to the season to stretch out all the way to May finales. That can get annoying, but with a two-week break in the schedule for the Olympic Games, it can help to ease off some of that break. Plus, many of us will want to check out some of the Olympic coverage anyway, so we’re not feeling pulled in two directions.
