Since the end of NCIS season 21, there has been a constant question about who Lily is. NCIS season 22, episode 15 finally revealed the answer. And yet, it’s left us with way more questions.

Caution: This post contains SPOILERS for NCIS season 22, episode 15.

The latest episode saw Parker finally getting some answers about what happened to his mother. We knew that his mother died in a car accident, but we didn’t know about other details of her life and who she was. It took the arrival of Roman Parker, Alden’s father, to share more of the details.

What happened to Parker’s mom in NCIS?

The NCIS team leader found out that his mom was struggling with alcoholism. Roman decided to hide all of that from the children, and this man didn’t even tell them that their mom died instantly in the car accident. It was brushed under the rug.

To be honest, a lot of people can’t handle death and grief. They don’t know how to talk to children about it, so it’s not all that surprising to learn that this is how Roman reacted. Plus, Roman moved his family around a lot, and that meant few answers to any questions that Alden and his siblings had.

With the new information, Alden was able to look into the news reports about his mother’s death. Sure enough, that’s when he learned about Lily.

Who is Lily in NCIS season 22?

There were plenty of theories that Lily was Alden’s long-lost sister, someone who died on a ship and Alden’s brain made him forget about. That is the usual form of storytelling for this sort of story, and I’m glad that NCIS didn’t go this way. Instead, NCIS season 22 brought us a bigger twist that brings up a lot more questions.

Lily was a young girl at the scene of the accident. There is a photo of Lily standing by the car with a police officer talking to her.

How would Alden have known this girl and what she looked like if he had never seen this photo? It would suggest at some point that Alden read the news report and saw the photo. That is possible, as we know that the brain can lock out traumatic events to protect us.

There is clearly more about Lily to come out. Is she someone Alden once knew as a kid? Is she connected to Alden’s mother in some way? The reveal doesn’t make sense right now, but that doesn’t mean it won’t later in NCIS season 22.

NCIS airs on Mondays at 9/8c on CBS.
