The Night Manager may have been undercover since its first season in 2016, but Prime Video just released the official teaser for season 2, which looks very promising and worth the wait. Tom Hiddleston, also known as Loki from theThor franchise, stars in this British spy series about a hotel night manager turned MI6 secret agent.

The Night Manager season 1 takes place firstly in Cairo and then moves to Switzerland as Jonathan Pine (Hiddleston) takes on a new job. His move was a result of the death of his love interest, Sophie, who was targeted for passing intelligence info to Pine. Thus, MI6 recruits him for espionage and a revenge mission.

According to Deadline, The Night Manager season 2 will take place in Colombia, involving a similar mission to intercept an arms deal. If you’re not sure about committing to a new series, let’s look at similar shows that can help you gauge if The Night Manager is for you.

1. Citadel

This Prime Video series premiered in 2023 and has a second season in the works, according to Newsweek. Citadel mirrors a dystopian reality where an international spy agency has been destroyed by a larger syndicate with more rich and powerful leaders. Main characters, Kane and Smith, engage in a dangerous and somewhat romantic mission to save the world by first saving a crucial agency called Citadel.

Newsweek also mentions that while the show attempted some spinoffs set in different countries, Amazon has decided to stick with the original plot, set in England, and incorporate the other subplots within the next season. If you enjoyed the action-packed drama led by a dynamic duo, you’re probably going to love The Night Manager as well.

2. The Night Agent

The Night Agent could very well be the American version of The Night Manager, as the main characters are both roped into intelligence careers unexpectedly. Another similarity between the plots of The Night Agent and The Night Manager is that the main characters aren’t sure who they can trust. Betrayal and love get in the way of some very serious spy missions, leading to deception, danger, and the need to make split-second decisions to save other characters at risk.

In The Night Agent, there are times where there’s many lives on the line and Peter must work with criminals to defeat even more dangerous masterminds. If you enjoyed The Night Agent, you’ll want to start catching up on season 1 of The Night Manager before the season 2 premiere.

Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan Season 3

3. Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan

This hit series is another Prime Video spy action drama, starring John Krasinski (A Quiet Place). There are currently four seasons available, with a movie in the works to wrap up loose ends, according to anarticle by Screen Rant. The article adds that the new movie, Jack Ryan, “…is basically the 5th season we didn’t get.".

Jack Ryan is the typical CIA intelligence worker, and is thrust into the dangers of terrorism, government conspiracy, and global threats. According toThe Hollywood Reporter, the show’s popularity bumped it to number 4 on the Nielsen streaming chart, and this is at the end of the final season. Some shows falter in viewership as more seasons come out, but Jack Ryan continued to capture its audience as the show came to an end.

If you liked Jack Ryan, you might want to give The Night Manager a try and see what new bombshells season 2 brings to the ten-year-old series. More notable series to try, with similar themes, include, The BlacklistTreasonBlack Doves, and FUBAR.
