There was one mystery we didn’t even needed solving in Matlock season 1. It was all about who put Matty and Edwin on their mission to take down Jacobson Moore. Well, it turns out that the reveal from the most recent episode has turned everything we know on its head.

Caution: This post contains SPOILERS for Matlock season 1, episode 15.

Just as Matlock goes on another break, we got a bombshell of a mystery. Matty and Edwin decided it was time to find out who the mystery Redditor was that put them on the Wellbrexa case, and they used a phishing scam to do it. It turned out that the Redditor’s account was connected to someone at Jacobson Moore.

Did anyone else think that this would be some big cliffhanger mystery going into the break? Instead, we got answers, and I like how the show has played it. You see, with the answers, there are a lot more questions.

Who was the Redditor in Matlock?

It turns out that Mrs. Belvin is the one behind the leaked documents. This likely means that Mrs. Belvin knows exactly who Matty is — if not exactly, she has an idea. We don’t yet know why Mrs. Belvin did it, though.

This seems to go against Mrs. Belvin’s rule following ways. She makes it very clear on numerous occasions that she likes the order to the rules, and here she is, breaking them — and the law — to get justice for people she never met. Is it possible that she had someone connected to the Wellbrexa case as well?

Either way, we’re now at a point where Matty’s identity threatens to come out. Matty has found it hard to keep her tracks covered, but she’s managed it with some forward thinking. This reveal could mean that she finally needs to share the truth with someone, making Mrs. Belvin the first person to learn who Matty really is.

Matlock returns with new episodes on Thursday, April 3 at 9/8c on CBS.
