It didn’t take long for us to learn that Olympia and Julian were married in Matlock. We knew they were going through a divorce, and that’s about to come up in Matlock season 1, episode 7.

Olympia and Julian have managed to keep their professional relationship relatively professional despite their personal one. However, things may change in the new episode. We’ll get an insight into why their marriage didn’t work out in the first place.

This is also a hard case for Matty, as it involves the death of a child. She wants to see it through, but can she?

Matty considers quitting in Matlock season 1, episode 7

I don’t think Olympia was involved in the case that led to Matty’s daughter’s death. If she was, she was a very different person back then. While Olympia is a cut-throat lawyer when she needs to be, she wants to be on the right side of the smaller people.

That is likely the reason she and Julian couldn’t work together on a personal level. Julian is likely too much like his dad, and maybe the original case with the baby formula exposed that. We’ll get to see as the two get a chance to retry the case from the past.

Olympia knows how hard this could be for Matty, considering she has lost a daughter. If only Olympia knew the real truth behind the daughter’s death. It’s not surprising then that Matty wants to get justice for this family as it involves contaminated baby formula.

However, something is going to happen that will lead Matty to consider quitting. She’s dealing with too much stress, and there haven’t really been any breakthroughs in her case just yet. At least, not enough to feel like she can point the finger.
