Things are sure to get worse before they get better in Matlock season 2, episode 2. Nobody really knows who to trust at this point.
It’s hard not to be on either side of Matty and Olympia right now. As a mother, I understand what Olympia is doing. She’s trying to protect her children, but sometimes, you can’t keep protecting them. All you’re doing is delaying the inevitable.
However, she also knows that Senior was involved in Wellbrexa. While she knows she should turn Julian in, she needs to get the bigger fish.
Meanwhile, Matty wants justice, and the best way to do that is to expose the scandal. It’s time for the two women to face off against each other again.
Matty has some planted Wellbrexa documents in Matlock season 2, episode 2
At the end of Matlock’s season 2 premiere, we learned that Matty had created a distraction in Olympia’s house, leading to breaking into the safe. She took the Wellbrexa study and replaced it with a copy, and it looked like Olympia would be none the wiser.
Well, Olympia is a smart woman. She had to know that the document wasn’t safe in her own house, and we know that in the promo shared straight after the episode that Olympia tells Matty that the document is fake. She knew that Matty would likely take it, and if Matty leaks it, then it will cause problems for Matty rather than the firm.
The two women will need to face off against each other, while they also try to see the situation from each other’s side. Matty even had that conversation with Edwin, suggesting that she is going to feel for Olympia and consider dropping everything.
Alfie’s father will come up again
Of course, the Wellbrexa study isn’t the only situation for Matty to deal with in Matlock season 2. She also has the issue of her grandson’s biological father turning up.
She did learn that Joey is Alfie’s father, but he has lied to her. He said that he’s clean, but the drug test that she secretly had done shows that’s a lie. Now she has to figure out what to do with that information, and she needs to decide whether this man should be in her grandson’s life or not.
It’s a difficult situation, because she knows what it’s like without his mom. Alfie purposely went looking for his dad, so he wants to know, but Joey has lied and isn’t clean, so that’s going to cause problems. Matty and Edwin need to be on the same page about what to do for their grandson to protect him.
