Nothing says Halloween better than watching crime shows with monsters and supernatural forces. Whether you’re into jump scares, dark magic, or a touch of undead humour, there’s a show on this list that’ll keep your spine tingling.

So dim the lights, grab your favourite Halloween snack, and let the monsters keep you company this spooky season. We have five must-watch monster crime dramas to check out.

1. Wednesday (2022 - Present)

The Addams Family is already a Halloween classic, and if you're a fan, you're going to love Wednesday. This Tim Burton series—yes, another name iconic for all things eerie, perfect for the Halloween 2025 season—that follows the Addams's eldest daughter as she attends Nevermore Academy.

Not only does she have to adjust to life at yet another school she hates, but she finds herself investigating the killing spree of a monstrous creature. Oh, and she has visions of the murders before they happen! But that's enough spoilers. Watch Wednesday on Netflix to see what happens next!

2. Stranger Things (2016 - 2025)

The title gives it away a little—strange things are the bread and butter of this show. The small town of Hawkins, Indiana is full of supernatural creatures, and a group of friends and their families have to discover what's going on. That is, after they discover an alternate dimension called the Upside Down. This is the heaven of science-fiction fans, for sure.

Catch this SF horror series on Netflix to get acquainted with the monsters and the ones that fight them off. You'll need to wait until November to see how it all ends, but there are four seasons to get caught up on at Halloween. Stranger Things season 5 drops on Wednesday, Nov. 26.

3. Locke & Key (2020 - 2022)

This cleverly titled series follows the Locke family, particularly the three Locke children, moving into their ancestral home, Keyhouse. Get it? Lock(e) and key. Yeah, okay, I won't spoil the pun. I will tell you that they discover—you guessed it—keys that open all sorts of magical doors and objects.

But that's not all they uncover. They are soon swept into a fight with a demon from another dimension. Will they learn the truth about their father's death and get rid of the monsters forever? Find out on Netflix!

4. Chilling Adventures of Sabrina (2018 - 2020)

If you are into horror and the occult, this young witch will win your heart. It's a coming-of-age story with a twist. Sabrina is half-witch, half-human, and at the age of 16, she has to choose between two worlds. Will she stay in the human one, or cross over to the supernatural?

Sabrina will also have to fight off evil forces. Among them is Satan himself. It's a show full of supernatural beings and evil powers. Discover if Sabrina manages to keep them all at bay on Netflix.

5. Grimm (2011 - 2017)

True to the topic of good guys having to hunt down evil, supernatural beings, Grimm follows Portland homicide detective Nick Burkhardt, who discovers he's part of a long line of hunters called "Grimms". These hunters have a special ability to see creatures known as Wesen.

He has to hunt and stop these creatures. The show also draws from the stories of the Grimm brothers, with a deeper and darker twist to them, of course. Stream it on Netflix to hear the whole retelling of folklore.

6. What We Do in the Shadows (2019 - 2024)

Halloween doesn't have to be all gory and scary. There are monster shows that lean on the comedy side too, like What We Do in the Shadows. This mockumentary follows four vampires—Nandor, Nadja, Laszlo and Colin Robinson—as they try to understand modern life.

Imagine if ages old beings had to deal with the internet and transportation, shopping for groceries and human interaction in general. And of course, their lives constantly clash with other supernatural beings. If you want a good laugh, stream the show on Disney+.

From eerie mysteries to laugh-out-loud undead antics, these shows prove there’s no wrong way to celebrate Halloween 2025. Whether you’re streaming solo or hosting a monster marathon, these series promise to make your late October nights unmissably spooky.
