Eyes have been on the future of a few FOX shows, and the network has made the decision about one of them so far. It’s all about Murder in a Small Town.
Kristin Kreuk was certainly a draw when it came to this series. Rossif Sutherland also stood out as Karl Alberg, the new detective in a small town. All this man wanted was a chance to live a quieter life and find love, and he ended up with far more murder investigations than he thought possible. Someone might want to tell him that moving to a small town always leads to far more drama than it should. Just as the residents of Rosewood, Tree Hill, and Mystic Falls!
The first season came to an end back in November, and eyes have been on a renewal since then. Is it happening?
Murder in a Small Town season 2 is officially happening
It’s great news. As TVLine confirms, Murder in a Small Town has been renewed for a second season. In a way, this renewal is somewhat surprising considering the series didn’t quite gain the viewership that other shows have. However, it performed well for FOX, and there are other shows, such as Accused, that we’re expecting to see not renewed and shows like 911: Lone Star that are coming to an end. This opens up space on the schedule.
The show is also licensed, rather than being a traditionally produced series by FOX. This helps to keep the costs down for the network, which makes renewals much more likely.
What to expect in Murder in a Small Town season 2
There are a few questions that the second season will need to answer. The first is whether Cassandra will win her election bid. Cassandra wants to expand the library to include an arts hub. This isn’t surprising considering Cassandra’s love for the arts, but will that become a success?
She needs to be on the Town Council for that, which is what she shared she will run for in the finale. If she wins, it could be bad news for the police as she wants to install an oversight team as well.
The end of the first season also included the reveal that Karl’s daughter Steph is coming to town. Will she stick around like her sister Holly did? What does this mean for Karl and Cassandra? This will open up a world of possibilities for character development for various characters.
