4 must-watch crime dramas coming in June 2025

As broadcast slows down for the summer, it's easy to think there are no more crime dramas to watch. There are plenty arriving in June 2025.

As the summer kicks off, it’s easy to think that there’s nothing to check out. The truth is there are plenty of crime dramas to watch, and you just need to turn to the right networks and streamers.

If you did miss out, make sure you tune into Prime Video and Netflix. The end of May saw the releases of The Better Sister and Dept. Q on the two services respectively. Now we’re looking ahead at the shows to come in June, and there are some traditional crime dramas and others that have a supernatural twist.

Revival

For a supernatural twist, you’ll want to turn to the Syfy series Revival. Based on the comics of the same name, the series takes place in a small town in Wisconsin where the dead have come back to life. However, in all that, there’s been a murder, and now the murder victim gets to help solve their own case, because, well, they’re alive again!

Melanie Scrofano of Wynonna Earp fame plays Dana, a single mom and cop who is tasked with figuring out the murder. Meanwhile, her dad is the sheriff and focused on figuring out what happened while keeping the town safe as they figure out what brought the dead back to life.

Revival premieres on Syfy on Thursday, June 12 at 10/9c.

Mafia

I often find that the foreign language crime dramas are grittier and more intriguing. They pull you into plots that you wouldn’t usually expect, and Mafia promises to do that. This Swedish-language series tells the story of Radovan “Jakov” Jakovic, a cigarette smuggler and criminal entrepreneur who teams up with Gunn, a police officer who is able to see what cigarette smuggling will do for the criminal underworld.

The two end up connecting with each other, bypassing their own superiors, and that naturally leads to a more personal connection. While the two are looking out for themselves, they know that their work will be devastating. And all of this is inspired by true events!

Mafia premieres on Thursday, June 19 on Viaplay with weekly episodes.

Countdown

Supernatural fans will want to turn to Prime Video for a new release. Jensen Ackles leads Countdown, where he plays Mark Meachum, an LAPD detective who finds himself on a top-secret task force after the death of a suspicious murder in broad daylight.

It turns out that there is a much sinister plan to take down Los Angeles. This plan threatens to bring a Chernobyl-sized event, and the task force needs to get to the bottom of it before it can take place. How do you work undercover all the time? Well, it looks like you really get into character!

Countdown premiers on Wednesday, June 25.

Smoke

Apple TV+ has the last of the crime dramas on our list. Smoke is another series inspired by true events, with Taron Egerton in the lead as arson investigator Dave Gudsen. Dave and his team need to stop two arsonists who are involved in a twisted game.

However, it’s not just the arson investigator who is on the case. He needs to team up with the police if they want a chance to catch the villains. Can they track the two arsonists down before others die in deadly fires? And what is the bigger conspiracy behind it all?

Smoke premieres on Apple TV+ on Friday, June 27.
