My Life is Murder season 5 is here, and we immediately jump into a twisty case for Alexa Crowe to solve. This one takes her into the world of elite cheerleading and social media influencers. Was it murder or an accident?

After a long break, we jump right into a new episode as Alexa learns something surprising. Did you know you can walk from one side of New Zealand to the other? A group of women give her the way to do it, and you just know that the episode is going to end with it! Sure enough, it does, and Harry, Reuben, and Madison are not impressed with the idea, but they go along with Alexa’s crazy ideas anyway.
That’s just the fun bit of the episode. What about the murder investigation? That pulls Alexa into the world of elite cheerleading.
Did Wyatt die from an overdose or murder?
The episode starts with Alexa getting given a new case by Harry. He can’t figure out what happened when a social media influencer dies while live streaming. He just got into an ice bath, and he ends up dying from an overdose.
This is where things get tricky. There are no traces of drugs around the house, and it’s not like he took anything while on the live stream and there are no signs of him having some sort of patch. So, how did the drugs get into his system? This tells Alexa that it has to be murder.
Now it’s time to find out who the murderer was. When it turns out that the social media couple wasn’t actually a couple, the twists just keep on coming.
Don’t believe everything you see on the internet
It’s easy to get drawn into a celebrity couple, but not everything is as it seems. That is certainly the case for Wyatt and Stacey, who were not the Instagram couple that they seemed to be. Everything they posted together was fake.
In fact, Wyatt was in a relationship with one of the other cheerleaders, Mindy. Is it possible that Mindy killed Wyatt out of jealousy? What about Stacey killing him because she did actually like him?
Those are the questions Alexa needs to answer, and she draws a blank for a while. It seems like all of the cheerleaders are covering for each other, but photos show that Mindy was never at the sleepover the girls say they were at. Sure enough, the party happened, but Mindy was with Wyatt that night. She still says that she didn’t kill Wyatt, especially when it turns out that the drugs were in the ice.
How far would you go for your daughter?
My Life Is Murder season 5 episode 1 answers the question of how far people go for their own children. When one of the cheerleaders is injured, Alexa goes to speak with her, realizing that she has medication that she shouldn’t have. Mindy’s mom, Coach Greer, brought her the painkillers.
While it seems like Mindy had the most motive, Alexa is on to something. Mindy flees the country to Australia, which angers Greer. Greer is angry that women are offered opportunities and then waste them all, and that’s what she viewed Mindy’s relationship with Wyatt as — a waste.
On the night of the slumber party, Greer realized that her daughter wasn’t in any of the photos. Mindy was with Wyatt that night, and Greer went over to spoil their fun. With Mindy going for a boy over cheerleading, Mindy decided to do what she had to so she could “protect” her daughter. She was the one to slip the fentanyl, which her dad used, to kill Wyatt.
It’s no wonder Mindy fled to Australia. It wasn’t because she was guilty, but because she realized what had happened to Wyatt and who killed him.
My Life Is Murder season 5 starts off with a bang, and we’re here for the whole season to break down the cases Alexa deals with.
