There continues to be some disappointing news for NCIS fans. Both the flagship series and the prequel, NCIS: Origins, remain on a break this week, Monday, March 17. Here’s probably why this is, and when the two shows will return.
There is a little bit of good news. There will be reruns tonight. There’s a chance to go back to an episode where two members of the flagship team need to stage a wedding, and a case involving a Vietnam vet that stirs up memories for Franks.
Why is the NCIS franchise on a break?
While the previous week saw a music special on throughout most of the night, this week, we’re getting reruns. This is likely because the only reason for this break is due to spacing out the episodes. There are only so many episodes to the season, and CBS needs to make sure there are plenty to air in May for finale week.
This is standard with all broadcast networks. Well, most of them. ABC did opt to hold back some top shows to January to help limit the breaks in the schedule.
When will NCIS and NCIS: Origins return with new episodes?
The break is almost over, and that’s for both shows! Yes, NCIS: Origins will finally get some new episodes after being on this break for much longer due to having fewer episodes than the flagship series.
Both shows will return next Monday, March 24. There are no details about the Origins episode at the time of writing this. However, we do have some details for the new episode of NCIS season 22. Special Agent Sawyer is tied to the murder of a Navy lieutenant, and it turns out that there are links to a wealthy family. Of course, wealthy families tend to have a few murderous skeletons in their closet.
There is a little bit more of the Lily storyline for Parker, as well. He discovers something between Lily and his late mother. Is it possible that Lily was a sister that he’s forgotten about? Could she have been related to his late mother? The show promised us more than mother issues, so I’m intrigued by how this will all play out.
NCIS and NCIS: Origins will return with new episodes on Monday, March 24.
