Watson is getting more new blood in season 2, as a former NCIS: Hawaii star will be joining in a fun recurring role!
Watson was a pleasant surprise for CBS when it debuted earlier in 2025. It was a twist on the Sherlock Holmes mythos as it opened with Holmes seemingly dying fighting enemy Moriarty. That left his friend John Watson (Morris Chestnut) to open a clinic and use Holmes’ lessons to solve medical mysteries.
The show performed well in its first season, both as a medical drama and a mystery procedural. There was the overall arc of Moriarty (Randall Park) being alive and targeting Watson for his own plans, with a strong finale. A second-season renewal gives more time for the show to build its audience.
Deadline is now reporting that season 2 will have a nice addition as Noah Mills will join in a recurring role. The actor is well known to CBS audiences for his role as Jesse Boone in NCIS: Hawaii. This will mark his first big role since that show was unexpectedly canceled in 2024.
Per Deadline, Mills “will play Beck Wythe, who has newly returned to his hometown of Pittsburgh after blowing up a career in Silicon Valley with reckless, risk-seeking behavior. He meets Ingrid Derian (Eve Harlow) in group therapy for people trying to manage their Cluster B personality disorders. The two of them form a bond that may be exactly what they need to rebuild their lives—or might be just the latest dangerous indulgence for both.”
It’s an intriguing role for Mills that can lead to more mysteries for the show.

What can we expect Watson season 2?
As Watson viewers know, a recurring element for the show has been Ingrid’s problems, as Watson suspects the woman may be a sociopath, and Ingrid confessed to killing her abusive father. Thus, season 2 may see her indulge more in her dark side and Beck could facilitate that in a dark romance.
It’s a departure for Mills, coming off his role as a heroic agent on NCIS and other parts with him as a good guy. This can show off his sinister side and make fans wonder if Beck is a decent guy who’s merely troubled or a murderer who can drag Ingrid into the darkness with him.
This will add more drama to season 2, which will also have Robert Carlyle joining as a still-alive Holmes, whose unexpected return throws Watson and opens a new mystery. That's in addition to the usual medical cases the series will still explore.
The great news is there’s not much time to wait for the return of Watson season 2. The series was moved forward from a midseason 2026 premiere to a fall 2025 premiere.
Watson season 2 premieres on Monday, Oct. 13 at 10/9c on CBS.
