If NCIS: Origins is your favorite of the NCIS shows, then there’s some disappointing news coming up. CBS has set the fall finales for all its shows, and the NCIS prequel series is the first.

Yes, NCIS: Origins will get to its winter break before the other shows on the network. There is one other that will air during the same week, but all others will air during the week before Christmas! To make matters worse, the return date is later than normal, as CBS is holding off returns until after the Winter Olympics.

When is the NCIS: Origins season 2 fall finale

There are just two more episodes of the season left, including the episode that airs tonight, Tuesday, Dec. 2. The NCIS: Origins season 2 fall finale will air on Tuesday, Dec. 9. Yes, all other NCIS shows are airing the following week!

The only other show to break this same week is Matlock, which has already had an unexpected week off. It’s certainly disappointing when we’re so used to blocks of shows airing with the same schedule.

The earlier fall finale for NCIS: Origins suggests that it will have fewer episodes than NCIS and NCIS: Sydney. CBS will want to limit the disruption in the schedule, so airing the fall finale a week earlier than the other two shows is the best way to manage that.

What to expect on NCIS: Origins season 2 episode 9

The episode will bring Lala’s story front and center once more, as her CI is shot. NIS will need to team up with Oceanside PD to get to the bottom of the attack. What’s not clear is whether this CI is the man Lala connected with during a previous episode, or if this is a CI we haven’t met before. It’s possible that this is linked to the Flaco storyline, though, as there were threats made against her for not teaming up with Flaco.

Meanwhile, Gibbs and Diane will find that their relationship is tested, as she is offered a job in Los Angeles. Of course, Gibbs isn’t going to want to move to LA, so it’s likely that a discussion of whether they can make it work or not comes up. Is this what makes Gibbs rush into a proposal?

Then there’s an arc for Mike, who heads out to visit Mason at the compound. Considering the good that this compound is supposed to offer, there’s hope that there’s a positive story for the Franks brothers in this. They need to be able to heal.

NCIS: Origins airs on Tuesdays at 9/8c on CBS.
