The first trailer for NCIS: Tony & Ziva has our favorite NCIS couple on the run for some wild adventures that kick off a new era!
It’s been a long time coming, but at long last, NCIS fans will see Tony DiNozzo (Michael Weatherly) and Ziva David (Cote de Pablo) sharing the screen for the first time in almost 13 years. NCIS viewers loved to see the former Baltimore cop and the Mossad operative banter and tease each other with an obvious attraction between them growing.
That seemed to end when de Pablo suddenly left the show in season 11. Season 12 ended with reports that Ziva had been killed in a mortar attack. It was then that viewers discovered she and Tony had indeed hooked up off-screen, with Ziva having a daughter. Tony left NCIS to raise the girl in Paris.
Of course, Ziva turned out to be alive and it was indicated she reunited with Tony. Fans finally get to see the pair together in their own spinoff, landing on Paramount+ on Thursday, Sept. 4. It seems the pair may be together running their own security company but not “together” together…that is until a new threat puts them on a new adventure.
Who’s setting up Tony & Ziva in the new NCIS spinoff?
The NCIS: Tony & Ziva trailer (set to the INXS song “Never Tear Us Apart”) opens with the pair raising daughter Tali (Isla Gie) and bantering about “Gen X” while Tali asks if they’re getting back together. The pair deny it, telling anyone, “we’re keeping it professional.”
Things kick in when the company is hit by a cyberattack, just as Claudette (Amita Suman) warns Tony that someone has just deposited 115 million Euros into his account. Cue Interpol storming the building with Tony and Ziva realizing someone’s setting them up. They’re thus forced on the run from the authorities while searching for who’s really responsible and stop another attack.
The action is top notch with plenty of fights for both characters, the pair chased by remote-controlled cars and drones, beautiful exotic locales across Europe, some explosions, and Ziva in a wedding dress. It also looks like the pair do indeed get pretty hot and heavy amid the action.
We get the old Tony in NCIS: Tony & Ziva
Of course, Tony has to compare it to his favorite films, saying, “It’s a cross between techno-thriller and romantic comedy. But it’s our story.” It ends perfectly with Ziva chewing out Tony for a life-threatening stunt.
We don’t get more of the rest of the cast shown, but then it’s Tony and Ziva fans have come to see. In that regard, the series looks to give us what we want with action, romance, some humor and the pair showing the sizzling chemistry that made them so popular in the first place. If the show is as good as the trailer, then this NCIS reunion is going to be one for the ages.
NCIS: Tony & Ziva premieres on Thursday, Sept. 4 on Paramount+.
