Friday nights are all about drama on CBS. Well, there’s a chance to the schedule tonight, Friday, March 21. You’ll notice that there’s no new episode of NCIS: Sydney tonight.

We’re used to breaks in the schedule now and then. This usually means that we get a rerun of the series, but there’s not even a rerun of NCIS: Sydney season 2 tonight. What’s going on, and when will the series return with new episodes?

NCIS: Sydney is giving March Madness time to air

It’s all about basketball this time of the year. March Madness has started, and CBS airs the games on Thursdays and Fridays. That means the entire CBS schedule for those two nights is pre-empted, but we do have an end-date in sight.

With CBS airing the games, it means there isn’t even any room for reruns. If you want to catch a previous episode of NCIS: Sydney, you can turn to Paramount+.

In some good news, a break now will help with the scheduling of the TV season. CBS needs to add in breaks here and there because there are more weeks than there are episodes available. This usually means breaks that involve reruns, but CBS can limit them by planning around March Madness.

Hell Weak
“Hell Weak” – The suspected suicide of a former U.S. Navy SEAL leads NCIS: Sydney to a wellness retreat to investigate a group of his fellow former SEAL buddies, on NCIS: SYDNEY, Friday, March 14 (8:00-9:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network, and streaming on Paramount+ (live and on demand for Paramount+ with SHOWTIME subscribers, or on demand for Paramount+ Essential subscribers the day after the episode airs)*. When is NCIS: Sydney back with new episodes?

The good news is that the break is only for two weeks. Once basketball is over, so is the break. CBS has confirmed that NCIS: Sydney will return on Friday, April 4.

We even have details of what to expect in the episode, which is unusual at this point in the schedule. A lot of shows recently have focused on the world of obsessed fans, and now NCIS: Sydney is getting into it as well. A U.S. Navy choir singer dies in a suspicious way, and it turns out that a pop star was performing with the choir. Now that pop star’s obsessed fans are causing problems for the agents trying to do their jobs.

We already have the good news about the future of the series. NCIS: Sydney will return for a third season, being part of the nine shows collectively renewed by the network earlier this year.

NCIS: Sydney airs on Fridays on CBS and has episodes on Paramount+ to stream.
